| 9mm bearing mod
[COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana][COLOR=white]I’m excited to let you all know that after about 30 battery packs with 9mm avid bearings my xr-10s gears are in new shape. I pulled everything apart tonight and regreased the gears and took some pics. For your information my driving style is very aggressive I have bound this thing up really bad even bound so bad it bent links. I feel this thing is 90% bullet proof now!! I guess I missed the original post about this... what is the mod? Just putting in 9mm bearings, or did you have to do something to the plate to make them fit?. Thanks. |

would be nice if you did a "How too" Maybe with drill bit sizes etc. I bet you'd get a sticky!

My thoughts exactly. With some details on what bearings you swapped in would be awesome.

| Will do... sorry I thought it was common knowledge... The drill bit measured 8.8mm then I dremeled the rest so it would have a tight fit. Avid 9-5-3 flanged bearings. Avid 8-5-2.5 where mounted in plastic. The mesh was tighter I think because there is no slop. I did front and rear for 14 bucks so def a cheap mod. |

Looks like Avid is out of stock on the rubber 5x9x3s. They still have metal ones though. Last edited by ol' gravy leg; 10-07-2010 at 11:58 AM. | |
