Default --> zjguy721 and son BJV4 XR10 build <--

Well, I have edited this first post to reflect the changes we have made already. The build currently will be:

YTC BJV4 chassis
CI lower links
30* bent aluminum uppers
Futaba 4PL
Dual Castle Mamba Micro Pros
Castle BEC
Brood Apocalypse HHK-R 45Ts
3S LiPo
Hitec 7950
VP DHIIs 460 fronts, VP SLW 475 rears
Sedonas with CI double deuce 5.5 foams on mine
Boss Claws with CI double deuce 5.25 foams on his
Rowdy battery trays

Eventually, will do the VP cases, chubs, knuckles, lockouts and a solid steering link

We will keep everything pretty much stock for now. I'm sure I'll be upgrading the axles as time goes on (saving up the VP slush fund). But I figure get all the good electrics for now, get him driving it, and we can upgrade as things break or wear out.

Getting started

Assembling the shocks

Not bad for the first night

Don't forget to atleast earing mod... With that battery and those motors your gears won't last very long and were talking one to two packs

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, my stock gears are still alive. Not one broken yet. 35turn broods and they are good. I got like well over 80hours on the rig. Half the time was without VP plates and cases. I think the stock gear issue is builder error.

This is awesome to see I guess us MiRCa guys rubbed off on ya. It also looks like we have some major competiton to deal with, that boy can drive! I cant imagine what he will be able to do with a xr10. Your setup so far looks promising, but the VP motor plate and trans case will be needed. I still snapped a transfer gear in half with the VP plates and cases, but I was trying to break it Dont hesitate to contact me with any questions

I have already resigned myself to the fact that I'll need to upgrade the axles at some point. I'm going to be selling off some of the other RC stuff we don't use anymore (1/16 e-Revos, Losi Mini Desert Truck, part out my AX-10, the old RC18Ts) to help fund the VP order. I'll honestly probably do it all together (cases, plate, chubs, knuckles, wheels) as long as I'm tearing it apart. We'll see how things hold together. I think I will probably start him out on 2S to get him used to driving it, he'll have to learn how to use the dig function, and everything else with the new radio. Well, me too, for that matter!

Yeah, that weekend pretty much did me in! I'm really letting him do as much of the build as I can. Obviously I'll be doing the soldering, and little things like bleeding the shocks, but for the most part he is doing it. Helps that I have one of my own to build, too.

I'm not sure how soon I'll have them up and running, but I'm pretty sure we will see you guys over the summer.

Looks good guys!! May want to look into mounting the battery out on the front axle, getting some of that weight out of the chassis helps.

I did the VP bushings in my XR and it has held up..... so far.

OK, got the bodies done today.

He (surprisingly) went away from his usual red and black theme and wanted to go black and green.

Mine is my standard white and orange theme, rockin the new MiRCA sticker (sticker was his, but the orange didn't "go" with his new paint scheme, so he gave it to me)

Now just waiting for the motors to come in so we can finish up the axles and get these things up and running! No real hurry, still waiting for the new radios to come in anyway, so just doing what we can for now.
