Track width with the steelies is 11 1/4 from the out side of both tires and 10 1/2 in the rear to the out side of the tires. Went for a drive on the mini test pile in the backyard and it feels good. The Boss Claws are working great, only have a pack and a half through. more testing at the indoor course this weekend i hope and some action shots.

Maybe I missed out but are there no bead locks on your wheels?
EDIT.... I looked them up and saw the bead lock set up.

Next question about the wheel. Was it tough to use that bead lock system?

They look awesome by the way.

They are really nice quality. The first one was tough to mount cause i have never used this system before.

I just wanted something out of the ordinary for a comp crawler. So i decided to use some 2.2 scale wheels.

Small update, got my GearScience in the mail. This stuff is the bomb.
Got some VP DH procomps that have been narrowed from RigRocker and mounted the Boss Claws on them. After seeing a picture of one i chopped up me rear axle plate to make it smaller. Also got c-hubs, knuckles, and lockouts.

I didn't like the way the the boss claws handled so I trimmed some rows and now I am mush happier with the way the handle. I trimmed every other row on the fronts and every fourth on the rears.

I find with the foam setup in the boss claws its crawling a little better with more weight. I will be taking the sedonas off the steelies and putting them on a set of DH II's and SLW's cause i found the way their foams are it crawls better lighter.

Here is a video of my XR at the manor we stayed at while on vacation at the beach, not too many rocks there but there was some in the fromt yard.

Update time, not much but still some updates.

-C.I. foams all round (used so i dont know what the density is)

-DH2's back in the front and 1" SLW v4 in the rear.

-Having issues with the Brood motors (looks like the comms need to be cut) so I bolted up some HH 35t's

-VP knuckle weights

-Changed out the rear upper links to axial 30* bent links, i found that with where i had the rear axle clocked to the links hit the top of the motor. The axial links don't touch at all.

Weighed the rig 5lbs 7.2ozs RTR.

Looks good I like the white. Did you get your axles from HeartlandRC? I got my axles brand new off of eBay also. Decided I didn't need to spend all the money to get a new one if I'm going to be getting an aftermarket chassis anyway

They are really good but it took me a while to find a wheel width and foam that i liked running it with.

I did buy them from HeartlandRC. I knew I was going to go bodiless so I only got the axles then I just got everything else separately.

Big update today!!

My XR is now a Mantis!!

Made a rear lockout slug holder.

I cut a 460 VP hub in half and used some rubberized CA glue. Not easy to adjust weight but i tested by just taping the weights to the lockouts.

Looks nice. How do they rear slugs go? What have they done as far as performance?

The slugs are now out of the wheels so less rotating mass and they are held in place under the center line of the axle. This chassis is really different from the BJV4 so its taking alot of getting used to and tuning.

I meant what do the weights do that are on the rear lockouts? Help with descents, off camber??

I hope that's a bit clearer, my question was a bit vague.

I find it helps to keep the rear planted, the torsion chassis needs to be heavier in the rear from what i found. Attaching the weight to the bottom of the lockout keeps the weight below the center line of of the axle. It also takes rotating mass out of the wheels.

Long over due update time.

I am back to using the BJV4 chassis, and have started putting this rig on a diet.

List of changes

Holes 35t motors
VP trans cases
Had the VP knuckle weights but took them off
SLW V3 all around with Shaved boss claws and CI closed cell inner and med outers
A whole bunch of aluminum hardware

This rig is driving beter than ever after lightening it up almost a pound and playing with shocks and links, still not done but its getting there. RTR weight is now 4lbs 8.8oz and the balance point is almost right at the front lower links. Next thing is shrink the electronics and get a Rowdy motor mount plate for the electronics. Panels are in the works right now.

On to the pictures,

Should have some running video up tonight.
