need ideas/opinions on shocks for my xr10?

Sorry for the book but I listed what all I had and what I have on order to get an idea of what I will be running and the weight of my rig. Dont have a scale yet but hope to be around four and a half piunds or so and plan on getting one soon. Im new to this and I have read multiple threads on shocks but still have no clue on which shocks I want to get. I like the look of the g made g transition shocks but dont know how they would perform. My brother bought a used xr10 that was highly upgraded and used in many comps and is super light and his has smaller looking black colored shocks and springs that seem to work well. They look similar to the scx10 shocks with small lightweight soft springs at the bottom. Not sure what they are. Should I try the g made shocks I listed above or maybe even traxxas big bore or should I go with something smaller and lighter like my brothers rig. Maybe the scx10 springs? I like the look of scaler shocks with the internal springs like the g made. the kyosho velvet big bores look like they would work well too but are expensive but im willing to spend lots of money on upgrades if they are worth it. I just dont want to spend lots of money on some and get something that dosent work well and end up buying three or four sets to find some that work well. Any suggestions?

Got some ideas I thought about going with the traxxas big bores or the scx10 shocks with the mini t springs pink and red. From what I have read so far. Still open for suggestions? Please . . . . Anyone?

I'm running a similar setup to your rig and I have the traxxas big bores with mini t springs and Doug spring retainers. I'm happy with how these perform, silky smooth and if bled right no leaks.

I'm pretty sure you'll need to do the screw cap mod these... However I believe someone actually makes these caps now.. Wicked wolf I think.

which traxxas big bores are all you guys running?

Run the 3.5 big bores, I believe the end traxxas part number is 2660. They are smooth and if you have access to a lathe you can turn the extra material off of them to make them light. No need to buy the shock caps modded. You can mod them yourself. The inside cap has a dimple in the middle, almost like its already been center punched. I've done it on 3 sets now.

Yea thats probably the setup ima go with. the scx10 shocks would be lighter i guess would be the main difference. i like the way the big bores look with the mini t springs too. do i need to order the mini spring cups and standoffs from crawler innovations? Or do i just need the spring cups?

The other benefits of the SCX10 shocks is availability, rod ends top and bottom without modification, and preload adjustments.

Hmmm so I wouldnt have to buy anything else if i use scx10 shocks? No cups or anything? What springs are best to use with them on xr10 and anyone know how much weight it actually saves over the traxxas big bores?

I run the big bores with pink in front and red in the back. I've been seeing more and more threads with people goin with scx shocks. I just found a set of kyosho velvets with the cap mod already done on them. I had to limit them so much that I went back to my 3.5 big bores for a bit more flex. The kyoshos are 4 inch and the cap mod makes em even longer. I just hope I come across a 4 inch build or these are going to be the sexiest shocks I never use!! Ha!

The only thing you really want to buy or use is silver mrc springs or silver mini t springs.. I use the scx shocks with silver mrc springs on all 4 corners, I also use JeepinDoug cups, but you don't Have too... There just nice..

I'm not sure on actual weight saved.. But, a set of lathed big bores is close to as light as the scx shocks, at 3-4 times the money.. Figure 20-25$ for scx shocks, for all 4, plus the springs an cups if you want them.. 30-40$ for big bores an double that for lathed, if you can't do it, and still the springs an cups..

I ordered some of the traxxas 3.5" big bores lastnight along with the 5mm standoffs, jeepindaves mini t spring cups, and the mini t front spring set all from crawlerinnovations.com who has great customer service I might add. Started assembling my carbon switch chassis and links lastnight and realized I ordered the pack of 8 instead of the pack of 16 revo rod ends. Sooo ima head down to knoxville tn which is about an hour away to horizon hobbies and pick some up. Ima post some pics tonight so no worries there
