hmm interesting for sure... but what's the point? I mean it puts it a little bit lower but other than that are there any benefits?

the weight is centered in the rig not hanging off the front. also the servo horn doesn't get caught on things.

Hahaha old school McD's commercial. Nice piece MFAWV, are you mounting the CF plate to the case?

EDIT: I see it now

NICE! Good job Mike.... I dig it

EDIT: The biggest problem I can see would be link placement; you obviously have it setup great the way it sits. However, that wouldn't hold true, like say...... other skinnier chassis. I am very interested to see how this evolves. Very well done SIR!

I like the idea but have you noticed any fatigue in the servo? With the really long horn and the link at such an extreme angle?

Interesting. This is similar to the set up I have on my AL Fighters. The steering servo is placed behind the motor, but there is an integrated mount for the servo, in to the upper link mount.
I haven't seen any issues with servo strength or for that matter breakage.
It looks like you've made a bracket that links the back of the mount to the gear box, correct?

Jake

That servo horn or servo arm is no longer then what anyone else is using at the moment.

I made similar work

My new XR10

But there is a problem. When the servo is ultra ultra torque, such as hitec 7980, *there will be a slight movement between the servo and the axle.

this is still a work in progress. not sure of the future for it yet, but it does have one.

Jake
the horn is only .9+ in., and i have done some other changes to eliminate the fatigue. so far so good.

yes sir, i mounted it to the tranny case to stop any deflection.

it has been a couple of months and this steering setup is working great. im running a Futaba BLS 157 servo at 7.4v and havn't burnt it up yet. i did have to make a new steering arm for the knuckle do to me braking the CF one at the West Coast Shootout. this one is made from AL and is @ .2in thick. i have 7075 AL ready for a new one with a 1mm more offset on it. i just got done revamping it and shaving @ a gram or 3 maybe but i added clearance for a new drag link and made all new parts for it to cleen it up.

here are some picks,
