Gearing is something I have been looking at very closely for this truck and coming up with the exact plan of attack. I want to ideally come close to matching where I have been running my Wraith at. My Wraith: With stock ratio axle gears, 56t RR Gen 3 slipper and a 12t pinion Overall ratio: 35.9:1 Stock Yeti Overall Ratio: 22.67:1 My Yeti Plan Underdrive Gears front and rear, 64t spur... With 12t pinion, Overall Gearing: 34.2:1 With 11t pinion, Overall Gearing: 37.3:1 For batteries, I have the high output 2200 Turnigy packs, labeled 60-120C as well as the Turnigy 2650 packs. I have had good luck with both of these so far on the high draw 4 pole Tekin motors. We will see how it does with this HD motor. I do NOT suggest the Nano-tech packs from Turnigy, I have found them to be poor quality on more than one batch. Out of the 8 Nano-tech packs I have, none of them have survived more than 6 months of use. Last edited by Harley; 07-30-2014 at 02:09 PM.

If you are more go-fast then me, maybe 4s is the route for you but look at it this way: 4300kv on 2s (7.4v) = 31,820 RPM 3500kv on 2s (7.4v) = 25,900 RPM 3000kv on 3s (11.1v) = 33,300 RPM 1850kv @ 4s (14.8v) = 27380 RPM

I couldn't agree more with going with a complete tekin system! I feel that once the curves are dialed in on a PC, or app other ESCs feel inferior. Great choice! |

I like your plans for the rig. I'll have to copy the pertinent parts for my ghetto yeti build. You'll love the rx8 I'm sure. It's a solid esc that can really put down some amperage. I hadn't heard of the new gen 2 being able to be programmed by android, looks like I have another reason to get one. |

You'll need an OTG (On The Go) cable to connect the Tekin Hotwire to your Android phone. These cables are female standard USB to male micro USB. If you want to save an extra connection point you could certainly use this write up from Makezine as a starting point for producing your own male micro to male micro USB cable. Can't wait to start beating a Yeti.

Here is a longer cable (~3') that is reviewed well for roughly the same price as the cable you linked to. (And OTG specific ) I can imagine being limited to holding your phone 8" from the hotwire might be frustrating.

Tonight I was wanting to get down into the shop but didn't really have a plan on what I wanted to do. After sitting there staring at the car for a few minutes, I decided that I was going to play around with a new front bumper. When running the truck out at Goat Hill and in Colorado, I had got caught up on the front bumper a couple times. So I decided I would make a more minimal bumper. I still wanted to maintain the spring that the stock bumper uses. If you are going to run any real power in this truck I think that spring is going to help keep the front bulkhead together. A solid front bumper is probably only a good idea if you go to an aluminum bulkhead. I have been running a piece of closed cell foam inserted into the stock spring to stiffen up the front bumper considerably. I will continue to run this. |

I threw together a simple little skeleton of the bumper. Very simple. After I had the basic frame done, I worked on a paper template for the steel skin that I planned to attach to the front of the plate. |

I then transfered my template to some 18 gauge steel plate and welded it to the bumper frame. Lastly, I welded the plate onto the bumper. Pretty simple little setup. |
