Default Ty's Axial YETI

So I caught this YETI. I have plans for days, will be keeping track of progress here in my fancy build log. Haven't done much yet besides put some wheels on, start on a wrap design, photoshop the stock body to red (sexy) and stare at it, but the upgrades will start soon!

ProTek 4S 3700mAh
VP 2.2 Method 101s
CFM 1.25" Cans

Crawler Innovations Dueces Wild Foams
VP .475 SLW Hubs (Front)
VP .725 SLW Hubs (Rear)
VP SLW Brake Rotors
VP Spindles
VP Steering Rack
VP Double Sheer Steering Studs
VP Ti Front links
VP Ti Rear links
VP OCP Axle Housing

Future plans: Lots.

Oh it'll get some lingerie soon, you can count on that. Thinking Currie rear, Ti links, knuckles, chubs, universals and hopefully MIP shafts before too long.

Installed Vanquish SLW hubs and Axial hexes this morning for some added beef. 475 front and 725 rear. Front is a little bit wider than stock, rear looks to be a tad more narrow looking at the two different hubs (I didn't measure). May try some 350's or even 225's up front when I can get some to keep the scrub radius down and not have so much leverage on the stub axle and bearings.

Are you running the stock tires that came with the RTR?

I finished up the wiring, installed a Spektrum SR2000 and ProTek 4S 3700mAh and threw it out in the dirt. Ran for a good 15 minutes and the RX8/PRO4HD hardly broke a sweat.

I will say, the 1850kV setup is not blistering fast, I feel it is a good middle ground between crawling and racing setups. It's great for long run times and cool temperatures, but I would suggest a 2500kV motor for 4S if you want it to haul the mail. This setup is roughly 4000rpm more than the stock Vanguard on 2S, just to give a comparison.

The suspension is plush and soaks up bumps like nothing and the open front diff really lets you drive this thing with the rear end. Major drift machine!

Very clean wiring. I was thinking with the the 2 speed you could run a 3500+kV motor on 4s and still craw well in first gear. If I get a yeti I want 35+mph and good crawling ability.

We don't rate anything over 2500kV for 4S, I always suggest keeping our motors around 50,000rpm max just to play it safe. Anything over that may grenade the rotor and I won't be able to help much..

The motor in my wraith is spinning at over 50,000rpm at nominal voltage. I would want to be at least that in the yeti. Otherwise you have to be geared to the moon to get the speed and the crawling suffers. If I get a yeti it would have to be a lot faster than my wraith to keep my attention and still be crawable. I am still in the fence about buying a yeti. I have a complete exo roller and a complete ofna 1/8 scale roller here so I might just build my own IFS but I do kind of want to just buy a yeti.

What motor is it? They can and do handle it, we just rate them conservative for obvious reasons.
