Default Vanquish Steering Rack taken off VP website...?

Defective, recall, or just out of stock (previously would be on website even when Out of stock), now it's just totally gone...

I haven't had any issues with mine nor a buddy of mine but that is a little odd. Could be they're in the middle of updating their website, etc.

It was on recall because there wasn't a notch for the servo saver. They fixed it now so I don't know.

Small fix, shocked they took it down over that. Nothing a few minutes and a Dremel won't fix.

And to be honest it works without the notch you just lose a touch of steering to the right.

Compare both the stock on the the VP. You'll see the plastic one has a small molded indent on the side that mounts to the servo saver side.

Pretty sure Rowdy did a good couple pics of the comparison in his build thread with pics. Here is an image of the 2 in stock form:
Rowdys Rakshasa Crag Speeder

And fixed:

Here's a pic from Maddog Madigan - more top view of the area that needs to be filed:

It would have been an easy fix for most anybody, but for Vanquish to fix it it's a testament to the companys reputation for turning out the highest quality products possible. And if you picked up a black one you'd have to scar up that purty finish to fix it too.

Yeah a round file would do very well to do the same work. More time, but will still get you the same result.

Done. Well that was annoying.

I'm so surprised at VP for messing up like this, seems like such a basic error to make.

Question is, will they send us all replacements...?

Its a simple fix...don't know why they would. If you can't operate a dremel or a $3 file, you probably shouldn't own an Rc in the first place.

Well I can't say that I agree with any single part of that sentence.

But focussing on VP; when a company sells a product, it should be fit for purpose. If it is not, said company should take all steps necessary to remedy the situation for it's affected customers. Without customers, the business fails.

These are amongst the most basic concepts of running a customer-focussed business in any country.

You try running your own business (I run two) and maintaining the perfect record of production and customer satisfaction that you insist must be maintained. It doesn't happen.

The issue is minor and not worth doing a full recall/replacement on.

And I work in a multinational pharmaceuticals business with 16,000 employees - client satisfaction is our number one priority.

Start ignoring customers and you're on that slippery slope...

And just to add about the production comment, clearly that depends on the field you work in.

VP has a good track record, this is a very minor problem. If they were ignoring customers they wouldn't have taken the time to fix it and just called it good enough. Since this was just a minor clearance issue I don't think they need a full recall. If it just flat didn't fit, that would be cause for a recall.

Aye, they do have a good track record, it'll be interesting to see what, if anything happens with it.

How exciting!?

I'm sure if you call them, they'd send a replacement - and that is all that is needed.

Yes it shouldn't have to be done, but who knows how particular their Tester was when they installed them. It fits, maybe they skipped checking for left/right clearances.
