Default Sensored or Sensorless ESC/Motor combo

So now that almost everyone has experienced the attitude of the Yeti, which motor type do you prefer? With the Wraith and SCX10, we typically go straight for the sensored motor/ESC combo. The Yeti, however, is not even in the same family as those two, so would that mean the sensorless electronics are a better choice?

The Yeti will just be a fun basher and bee-bop around the local race track, nothing too crazy.

I would like to hear your opinions on it.

Side note: When I had an Exo Terra, I used the Tenshock SC401 motor/ESC combo that you can buy off of eBay. That setup ran beautifully in it, too.

If you're just looking for fast, no need for a sensored setup.

That's kindof what I was getting at. Since the Yeti and Exo Terra are essentially in the same category, it would make sense to have the same type of power plant.

On the flip side, I cannot stand cogging and like to be in total control throughout the trigger cycle (smooth startup to full throttle).

Tenshock now uses Hobbywing 120A ESCs in their combos, as well as the motor being sensored/sensorless. That may be the way to go....

I always go sensored now. Even for go fast setups.
For the price difference, why not? Most sensored setups are comparably priced.

I waterproof my own stuff, so that may be a factor.
I'm not overly concerned with the loss of efficiency in sensored, seeing as many new ESC s have smart modes.
My yeti is sensored, and I wouldn't have it any other way .
Each to his own though.

They are very closely priced, but the sensored will always be a tad more expensive just because of the extras needed to make it run.

There's no way I would purposely run a $1000+ rig at high speed through some water only to risk damaging 60% of it. Back to topic, The Tenshock combo that I mentioned earlier gives me the ability to run either way, so it's probably worth it to give it a shot.

Plus, I've never had a fault with HobbyWing ESCs or the Tenshock stuff. We will see how it goes.

Go with the Tenshock. I had that combo in my Exo and had similar success.
