| Motor getting hot
Alright guys my motor is getting extremely hot. After 5 mins of running I can't even touch it.. is that normal ? Also I had a problem with the ESC getting hot and turn off.. I changed the pinion down a gear and that seem to stop..

Sounds like you just had it geared wrong. Dropping a tooth or two on the pinion should fix this as suggested. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It always be "hot to touch". Get a heat gun ($10-20) and make sure you are not over 180F |

Pull the motor and check for binding in the drive line. You may have a bad bearing. Also, if your gear mesh is too tight you motor will get hot.

First thought I have is what servo do you have.... I run a Savox 1256tg, without the Castle external bec I had all your symptoms.......Solved it with a simple fix...after weeks of expert advice. I learned to make sure end points set correctly, High "c" rated battery(I use 50 or 60c only), proper slipper adjustment .and gearing. Castle who makes the axial motor /esc tell me not to exceed 180. I have the RR slipper, the castle external bec geared 18/64 runs cool pack after pack here...ambient temp in the mid to upper 90's |

Keen to hear what setup you are running. As for fans, they are more bandaids than anything. If you run so hot you need a fan, it's probably right on the edge of what that system can handle and is probably gonna turn into a paper weight sooner than later. |
