Default Yeti rear axle options / advice

Hi guys,

I have a Yeti with a Dlux modified AR60 housing, Boom Racing Kronik Axle Tubes, no-name lock-outs and SLW725 hubs. I keep bending axles so I'm looking for a more "bombproof" solution.

What would be best?

1. Vanquish clamping lockouts with Vanquish chromoly axles? (will these fit in the tubes?)
2. Axial wide rear axle conversion kit? (will these fit in the tubes?)
3. SSD wide diamond centered axle with HD axle shafts?
4. .... any other options to consider?

Thanks, Chris

I've had good luck with the SSD wide and HD axles.

yes go for ssd wide rear axle then you can use smaller slw hubs in the rear that would be much stronger

Very pleased by the SSD wide, never bend an axle (Standard). Managed to Break the HD rod end But that's a cheap easy replacement. Have some spare on hand no issue. Maybe I'm lucky or my pin mounted hubs saved me. Not sure just a guess on my side.

I've had unbelievable luck with the axial "full width" kit and Dlux Truss... I prefer to run a plastic "narrow" hub.

I run the Vanquish V2 housing with CBRB Ti axles and have had great luck. If I did it over again I'd buy the SSD wide axle though

Living in Europe like me and me having to pay crazy import fees in The Netherlands when ordering outside of Europe, where did you purchase your SSD axle? I purchase most of my RC stuff in Germany because it's cheaper. I'm an avid user of idealo.de, guenstiger.de, billiger.de und so weiter but can't seem to find the SSD axle using one of these search engines.

Thanks

Rcmart.com sell them, I'm in England and have never been stung by customs tax buying from them. They are based in HK but stuff from them usually takes less than 2 weeks to arrive.

Anybody else have the Hot Racing rear axle? Ive installed it on a new build and its been rock solid. It seems like a high quality, centered pumpkin that comes with hubs and pre-installed gears. Cant recommend it enough.

How long have you been running it? I'm interested in the axle. I'm a big hot racing fan but have been hesitant of spending the money on such a big ticket item with little news on it.

Looking on the design of the HR Axle it looks like just an original ar60 made from alloy. So i don't see an improvement. Still an Lookout design, that will go loose over time. cause like the org. only 2 screws holding the lockout, so this works only against the up/down movement, but nothing is working against forward/backward movement. Which than cause bent axles and forward backward play on the lookouts over time. To prevent this a design like this needs to be manufactured with zero tolerances, which is impossible. The non lockout design like on the SSD wide axle eliminates this. So why pay so many bucks for it? Just my thinking.

I modded my ar60 in this direction, before switching to the ssd wide.

the additional screws front/rear preventing that forward/backward movement.

I believe you are not thinking the right axle. This is what he is talking about as he said it was a centered design. http://www.hot-racing.com/index.cgi?...ET12XR06;c=918

What are you running for power? I seriously doubt HR as solved the weak axle problem with some plain steel axles.

Yeah thats the one. I have been running it for just about a couple months on 2S only. No issues but I guess the real test will be 3S. I didnt think there were any issues with this rear axle but then again there wasnt much info on it. Still looks like a quality piece though.
