I'm very new in the rock racing world. What should I get for esc, tekin or castle? Prefer some water resistant. Plus some crawling time too. What about a motor tekin, castle or ? What about a servo with torque? What about a controller too? Need a battery too, 3c I've been looking around online, I need some advise. I don't want to buy electronics then find out, I got the wrong stuff. Thank You for reading. Last edited by Steelone232; 09-20-2017 at 02:22 AM. |

HobbyWing SC8 3660 ESC/motor combo. 3100~3600Kv would be sweet spot for 3S users. Too fast for rock racing IMO, but most new Yeti owners want some umphness factor. Radio system budget? Fow a lower buget, I'd recommend a RadioLink RC3S. Great features at a great price. The RC3S feels so much better than super low budget FlySky radios I've used in the past. Too be on the safe side, get a servo with a minimum 300 oz/in of torque. Don't try to skimp on steering. You certainly can go all out with any electronics for a Yeti. It will gladly accept your $$$ ![]() |

If you want to strictly go fast get HobbyWing or Tekin. If you want a dual purpose Yeti that can go fast and crawl then get the Castle Mamba X ESC so you can toggle the drag brake with the Auxiliary Wire.

or pick up some used RTR electronics just to get it running and see where you want to go from there. i still use the RTR stuff and never had any issues. ESC gave me thermal shutdown ONE time. that's on a 88 degree day and no airflow. (i also run nothing but 3s) agree on steering though. get yourself a decent amount of torque. mine struggles to keep it pointed straight when i have the throttle pinned. just fishtails everywhere while i try to correct. |

Do you want sensored operation? HW make good sensored stuff as do Castle. Do you want waterproof? If yes, there are no WP HW ESCs. Castle make WP gear but it's twice the price of HW. If you just want avg crawling and mostly trailing you can easily just run unsensored and waterproof as it's very cheap. The HW SC8 120 is very affordable. With a Yeti 2 speed it'll crawl ok and go plenty quick. |

Thank you for the replys I think I'm going to get the mamba x so I can mess around with the crawling too. Ass for a motor not sure yet. I'm looking for a servo for about 100.00 and controller about 200 to 300, motor about 100. This has helped me a lot.
