BIG BUSINESS !!!!
good band

Acid Bath kicks ass !!! Never got into The Dax R projects (yet)

I've been trying to find an old favorite on MP3

John Connelly Theory , its a side project by the NUCLEAR ASSAULT front man while Dan Lilker did Brutal Truth and Anthony Bramante did his side project Chainsaw (never released as far as i know) I also had Glen Evans
In The Red

John Connelly Theory is brilliant but very rare (big waste)

I listen to:

Opeth
Isis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sMFpww1sig)
Katatonia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLEogbdozHc)
Agalloch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYMaIzFq1Iw)
Amorphis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpozFHCmS8g)
At The Gates (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG1qui9jeSw)
TestamenT (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09rHDabBQfA)
In Flames (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Kgvd2drVI)
The Haunted (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX1LBADDICk)
Shadows Fall (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myt9q_fAKjA)

There are many others. But these are a few. Granted they are not all "Death Metal" (specifically the last couple). But they are real metal non the less!

Here is one of my buddies band (Buried in Black) tracks, kind of crappy quality, but metal just the same!

Buried In Black - Face the Fire (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...deoid=15743847)

Those are some good bands Slolx! Although, lately In Flames and Haunted have disappointed.....but I still listen to Jester Race and Colony on a weekly basis! Good music to hear at 5am at the gym!

Do Stormtroopers of Death count?

Not DM perse, but another good band no one has mentioned - Kyuss

I'm glad someone mentioned Gwar.

I also listened to this yesterday really really loud while setting up my drums. I'm pretty sure that I heard satan roaring and saw fire shooting out of my speakers while it was playing. This is some evil stuff.

I listen to some dm but can't go all day listening to it. I have a wide taste in music from dm to even some classical. Hey don't give me crap Ave Maria is a great song to clean my guns to! Most is rock and metal of all kinds. Bloody Roots always has a different perspective of how metal has progressed over the years and it's nice to see where it started, where it has been, where it's at now and where it may be going in the future. While I might not like some of it I at least appreciate and respect the people that have created it because without it metal would not be where it's at today.

I just checked out that Akercocke and your album, Helhedded.

Good stuff.

Akercocke sounds kind of like one of my all-time favorite bands, Type-O Negative. (before "spetember sun"... gay :-()

Of course, nothing beat my old band, Disturbance. God, I miss those days. We were THE heaviest, darkest, most brutal band in Nebraska. (kind of like being the smartest guy at a retard convention, I know, but we still kicked ass.)

I have to comment here... I really, REALLY hate that metal is now being broken up into nu-metal/grind/grindcore/black metal/death metal/etc.

TO me it's all just metal. Good metal is good metal, crap metal is still crap metal.

I can appreciate the new stuff just as much as the old stuff. (and I'm a metalhead from waaaaaay back.)

I do like to see the true art of Metal guitar returning to more main-stream music, however. There are a lot of newer Metal bands out there with some killer guitarists. (Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, DragonForce)

Having said that, here are a few of my favorites:

Pantera
Opeth
Killswitch Engage
Bullet For My Valentine
Type-O
Arcturus
Dethklok (Brendon Small is the SH!T)
Sepeltura
Clutch
Dimmu Borger
Lamb of God
Metallica (everything from the black album back... after that they sucked)
Meshuggah
Fear Factory
Dream Theater
Anthrax
Five Finger Death Punch
Black label Society (even though Zakk Wylde has become quite sloppy the last five years or so...)
Cannibal Corpse
In Flames
Mudvayne
Slipknot (I was a fan before they ever even got famous... we played with them at a show at the Royal Grove in Lincoln, Nebraska when they were just a little-known bunch of freaks from Iowa... that was a year and a half before they even put out the first album)

and there are probably literally hundreds of others...

Those are just some of MY favorites
