Default Jet boats anyone?

Picked up a NQD Tear-Into jet boat a while ago and took it out for it's first outing this afternoon. We have several guys in ORCRC that also purchased them and I bet we'll have a river comp pretty soon.

My first time on the water...

I knew those looked familiar. My wife's cousin showed me one several months ago, they were wanting to get one for their boy because it was a jet drive and wouldn't chew the prop up (or cut his fingers). If they haven't ordered one yet, I'm going to have them order two!

kick ass! would turn skegs like a ski boat in the middle of the boat help it track better?

That's slick! how's the electric's installed? I see your controling it with a DX2 or 3 so at least a better controler is doable... can you replace the steering servo? any possibility of going brushless or at least up grading the ESC?

Yes, DX2 and Traxxas Velineon XL3s w/3500kv brushless, Graupner Mini-Jet unit and a Losi servo from a MRC. Using a 3s to power the little guy.

In stock form they are lame. Adding a brushless system and water cooling makes them so much more fun.

This thread shows off a lot of different setups and styles....

How do you know if you have a death wish? Your boat has a roll cage.

They look like a blast, especially for $30. Obviously they need some modding, but there is apparently quite a few mods you can do to them with brushless and whatnot. They will only go so fast with the jet drive, but they ought to be fun in creeks, not to mention it looks like you can't really capsize them. The only thing I would suggest is getting some hockey tape to seal the hatch.

There are 4 of here in Colorado that just ordered them, should be here in a couple days. Once the rest of our goodies show up, it'll be a good time!

Two sounds like a good idea, especially if you are running a stock jet drive, spare parts are not available for the NQD Tear Into and the stock impeller shaft is only 2.3mm.

Also consider how hard you are going to be on it, bashing into rocks and what not, I have heard the hull holds up pretty well, but if it take a good slam you could breach the hull.
