My daughter likes to text me stuff or ask me questions via text. I will not respond to her texts unless she completely spells out each word and quits using that text crap.

It's RCC, not a English class. That's the way I look at it anyway. Most of the time I can make it out. Obviously most others can too since you don't see to many threads of people saying "What?". Some people (including myself) tend to type as fast as I talk, so it's pretty easy to make errors. If I was taking a English class I would pay better attention, but since it IS just he internet I don't as much. I do however agree with run on sentences and when people use no periods. Drives me nuts. But its pretty easy just to skip it. Don't like how they write, just don't read it. Pretty simple. Just like if ya don't like a food, ya don't eat it. |

While I don't really care about proper sentence structure and puncuation, a page long post with no periods or spaces, is kind of hard to read. I know I did not major in english. Heck I just skidded by in highschool. I was not planning on being a writter etc. I was going to go through life with a wrench in my hand. As far as spelling goes, well as long as the word is not completely butchered then I don't really care. |

I'm more likely to respond to questions or give advise if people ask it in an intelligent manner. If you want me to spend my time to answer you, you'd better take an extra 10 seconds to add a comma or spell correctly.

Seeing messages done out like text messages is one thing, but the one word of the generation today that bugs me the most... overuse of " like ". " So like my friends were all hanging at the mall and like my boyfriend called me while I was like just standing there. Then like my parents walked past and they like wanted to get something. Then I had to like walk to the car to like sit down and like go for a drive. " etc. |

This is one of my biggest pet peeves, I understand if not every single word is spelled correctly, but it annoys the hell out of me if it just looks like they threw their keyboard at the screen and the letters arranged themselves to spell some ****ed up words. Since when has America been a race? |

Anyone else see the movie Idiocracy? Sure it's a comedy, but seeing the world slip more and more towards that comical future scares the hell out of me! The grammar, punctuation and just downright laziness are but a few examples. I once had someone I look up to tell me that "image is everything". While blunt and possibly over-simplified, there is merit in that statement. How you present yourself has a lot to do with how you are perceived. If you don't care what others think about the way you communicate, how can you expect anyone to care about what you have to say?
