My wife started taking pictures of the Solar Eclipse but she said it was too bright, so I went and took apart my welding mask shield and put it in front of her camera. they came out pretty cool

Way cool! I looked, but saw nothing. It was a completely cloudy sky all morning, day and night.

Thanks for sharing.

I really wish I hadn't just sold my welding helmet and lenses...

Those are some great photos. Even though I couldn't see it directly, the ambient lighting it produced was just plain erie.

Me and my dad checked a bit before 8, I think. It was just super bright, we checked another time, and clouds were blocking it...scumbag clouds.

My wife's picture made the local news last night, she was pretty jazzed.

I copied this off our loacal news
Fleischmann Planetarium of Reno Nevada reported that it sold 17,000 of the Eclipse-viewing glasses at $2 each last week, and had to order 10,000 more.

I woke up from a nap about 6:30 pst, and thought something was wrong. It was strangely dark outside, but still plenty of daylight left. Very weird, apocalyptic feeling until I remembered about the eclipse

Can't wait to see more pics!

BTW, you need #14 welding lenses to safely look at the sun. Anything less and you are doing damage to your eyes.
#14 are very uncommon because nobody welds with anything that dark. You can make up #14 with a combination of lenses since welding supplies don't usually stock them.

Yea, I'm not sure what # it was and we knew it had to be dark. So we just used two of them together to be safe

we had a heck of a sunset because of it.
