Every vehicle manufacturer has had lemons. Look at the big Toyota flap a year or two ago, with the problem with sticking gas pedals.

The more these companies computerize your vehicle, it no longer becomes controlled by a skilled operator that can think, but by a machine that takes your control away. My '54 chevy was easy to work on, I could fabricate a lot of parts for it, I had to drive it, it didn't drive me.

As a person with a job that has me driving in town, all day long, I have to disagree. There are people who can drive, true, but the vast majority of people just shouldn't ever drive a damn car. I watch people run red lights all day long, tailgate, speed, and just plain do stupid shit. As soon as we can put people into self driving cars, the better.

I had an asshole honk and scream at me because I wouldn't speed in a residential area. Seriously? I'm in a 7,000 lb van with a 98 year old woman in the back who has 1/10th of a spine left, if I go 90mph around a turn, she'll scream in agony, just so you can be slightly less late to whatever bullshit you think is more important than public safety? Put that stupid ****er in a pod with no windows and let him dick around on his phone instead of trying to get other people to do dangerous things because he can't figure out how to set an alarm on his damn phone.

Then that vast majority you speak of shouldn't be behind the wheel in the first place. Period. I don't want them in a self driving car either, take a bus.

Self driving car doesn't have a steering wheel or throttle. The person in it is purely a passenger.

As a "Professional Truck Driver" I don't believe that self driving (autonomous vehicles) have any place on our public roadways. I carry hazmat freight and like 90yr old passengers, sometimes it's a little iffy. However if you take control from the "operator" what's next? Next they will have robot to do the job and I'll be unemployed. Thanks but I'll just dodge the wackjobs. It's not like I weigh 80,000lb gross anyway. If I go to jail for killing someone that was clearly in the wrong and shouldn't have been behind the wheel, so be it. That's the risk I've assumed for 24 years and it's the risk I'll continue to assume until I retire. I don't need anyone, especially government, watching out for my well being. Grow up, nut up and realize that the only person in life you can truely rely on its yourself.

Now feel free to flame me all you want, it always happens. That's why I don't comment much.

Nah. They won't take your job away. Would still require a trained operator in a large rig. I just think that Soccer Mom and her little minivan should be self-driving, along with Mr. Super Business type, so that they don't have the option of driving like whackjobs. The huge bonus is that speed limits should increase as self driving vehicles become normal, and a lot of infrastructure, like traffic signals and such, will go away as self driving cars don't need it. People who don't have self driving cars will need to add an interface... All it would tell you is if you are coming up on an intersection, if it is safe to drive through it, or if you need to yeild to someone else. No more sitting at a light for 7 minutes, along with 12 other people, while NOBODY goes through the intersection, because it's giving a green light to an empty lane.

Government really has nothing at all to do with this. Your company will be the ones to decide to replace current technology with self-driving technology. The government is behind the curve on this, and they will be probably forever, like they always have been when it comes to technology.

A few years back, I saw this in a tavern and thought that it was funny, even posted it on here.

I tend to not just take random bathroom pics, but I saw this today at the place I bought the tires for my car from and it made me laugh.
