From the sound of the title the first thing that came to my mind was clapped out honda vs. Joe Dirt. After watching the video it looks more interisting than that.

The shows premise is imports vs rednecks driving muscle cars...a classic battle. 'cept it looks like its more like imports vs muscle car based race cars. Some of those aren't even super cars, just hot imports.

Its like a game of who would win in a fight: Mike Tyson or Doogie Howser? btw: Doogie gets a AK.

It looks like most the Muscle cars for the most part are projects with lots of Detroit speed stuff.They build lots of nice camaro/firebird parts.
Comparing those cars against the exotics will be a fun battle to watch.
As for true American muscle against today's average import cars I must say the imports would have the upper hand everywhere but from a standing start.
I drive tons of 60s/70s muscle cars at work and they suck except to give you a grin when you dump the clutch.Hell my Trailblazer SS will eat them up in the corners.

Stock for stock an old muscle car couldn't beat its current model. Even the old Shelby's can't keep up to the new GT's and struggle against the V6 Mustang.

You are absolutely correct on that. The progression of technology has made cars much more capable over the years. Of course it takes money to build things but there is a lot to be said when you can build a vehicle from a pile of parts and have a rig that will eat those that cost double or triple what you have invested for lunch.
