I LOVE that! Interactive racing! I would love to see that in NASCAR! imagine when somebody crashes, the spectators run out to help put them back on the track!
Before the cars even stopped, people running over to help. Awesome! Lawsuit waiting to happen in the States though

Watch Koenigsegg's Factory Driver Whip a Miata Around the Nürburgring

This is probably the only time you'll see a Miata pass a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.




Every single video you've ever seen of a Koenigsegg being thrashed at a racetrack has had Robert Serwanski at the wheel. As Koenigsegg's factory test driver, he's had the opportunity to do some pretty sweet stuff, like shatter acceleration and braking run records in the One:1, thunder around Suzuka Circuit, and set a lap record at Spa.
Needless to say, this guy's a good driver.
But when he's not throwing multi-million-dollar Swedish hypercars into corners, he's manhandling something much smaller. Mazda Miatas, to be exact. According to his LinkedIn profile, Serwanski has participated in the Swedish MX-5 racing series before working with Koenigsegg. Here's a video of him flying down the Ring in a Miata. Sometimes you don't always need 1,341 bhp to go fast.

Do it. They are such a well known and sorted out chassis that there is little thought or innovation needed to make them scream in the twisties. Canyon carving in something that isn't supposed to be fast is more fun than a barrel of punany.

My poor Montero maybe has a year left before I'll be forced to replace it, so I'm eyeballing potential candidates. Kinda torn between the Miata and a turbo brick. Just need to decide what kind of fun I want to have.
