Default 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona

Anybody else looking forward to the race and seeing how the mix of Grand Am and the American Le Mans series works out?

I had no idea that Grand Am cars were getting tossed into the mix. The DP cars have enough obstacles with the GT cars being in the way, now they will have even more traffic to deal with.

Its on Fox Sports 1 now. About 5 hourse to go.

I love the look of the Daytona Prototype Corvettes.
Corvette Factory Team cars look good. SRT Vipers have been the class leaders for a lot of laps.

4 classes have added to the excitement especially since one GT class has a higher top speed but also a higher lap time. One set of cars blast by on the banking and the other class runs them down in the infield.

The crash between Gidley and Maluchelli was horrifying! Sounds like Memo has a broken leg, arm, and back, and Matteo is relatively unhurt.

Corvette DP 1-2-3-5 with 1-2-3 on the same lap, wow.

Back in the early 90's I attended a couple CART races with hospitality tickets from Target/Ganassi racing. Got to spend some time talking with Chip, interesting guy to say the least. So needless to say I have always cheered for his teams. I can't believe the 01 just retired...

The call against 555 is BS, there was no contact.

Glad it was reversed. That had to have toyed with some emotions.

agreed, the turnover of the unavoidable contact was the right choice. well should have never been called.
however I do think the 555 should have "left him a lane"
while I was rooting for the Ferrari, the audi was actually ahead of him(and fully beside him) when he moved to the outside lane (the race line)
now had the audi only had a fender stuck in or behind him I have no problems with the Ferrari closing the door. he would be in front and have the "right of way"

Winkelhock knew exactly what was going to happen when he went on the outside of that corner where you can't run two-wide with GT cars, and he decided to stay there. Level 5 Motorsports had that corner since they were on the inside. I am a fan of Flying Lizard, but it was the right call.
