That is an interesting take on old school abstract games.

It is called Eight minute empire and I think after a few more plays it will be that quick.
Plenty of euro strategy goodness for up to 5 in a very small package.
Quick games sometimes are the best to have around.

I finally snagged a copy of Ticket to Ride.

The Marklin edition of course.
Very cool cards and another path to victory (passengers) makes this a nice improvement to the original IMO.

Robo Rally is one of those games that looks so easy then you start sending bots out and all hell breaks loose.

I keep getting pushed down holes by others.

Fun to see who can finish.

We have been playing Firefly a lot.


Belfort is also a great game we have had on the table a lot lately.

Pocket Imperium is a cool little galactic conquest game that is small and fast.



I have been playing the shizzle out of this one.
Five Tribes, quick on the table and changes constantly so you have to pay close attention to every move.

I am learning this classic from a friend slowly. We get together with some good coffee and make a brunch of it.

Thanks for actually commenting, this thread is pretty much me.
Someday I will get the $$ and the itch to build something but the cardboard takes most of my time these days.

Risk could be considered the game that started it all for me. It was the first board game as a kid I actually kept playing till the end (monopoly kills me.)

Played the classic version a lot but it is a dice fest so I have less interest these days (and fewer people that will actually play)

There are however some new risk variations I have played and enjoyed.

Backgammon is lots of fun, I played a lot as a teenager but haven't played it in years. Relatively fast to learn, just takes time to master, doesn't take all day to play.

I loved Monopoly but it can take weeks to play.

I have Risk, but it usually takes many days to play too, and for a strategic game of world domination relies too heavily on dice. Somehow I'm really good at rolling Monopoly dice, but suck with Risk dice lol.

Stratego is much like chess, but much more fun to me.

Milton Bradley's King Oil is lots of fun, but only available used now.
