Started some work on my Blizzard tonight. Not much to show, just mocking up the body that I will be using. Im gonna remove the rest of the stickers and remove the canopy over the bed. I dont know what theme I want to stick with yet, as I dont think I have the ambition to make a plow right now Basically, its gonna be a tracked vehicle for getting around in the snow! Once I get back from GA im putting a brushless in. Its gonna be a small motor, maybe even a 22mm diameter motor like the park 400's. Possibly the Himax 2212 will get the job. No need to go overboard with this driveline. I will test a few different motors out and see which does best. Some suprises will come with the brushless as well... |

I wanted a blizzard, but we rarely get snow here. Ended up with a Tamiya King Tiger. Wish it was running. |

Not sure which version he has, but the Blizzards I have seen have drag brakes on either track. As you tighten down a side it turns in that direction. If memory serves, early ones had independant power to each track (like the tanks right?) and varying the power to one side caused the turn. John, is yours the DF-300? If so, do you know the difference between it and the EV? I know the body is different, but what else if anything? |

Mine is just the EV. I chopped up a toy "mog" body so it would be cooler Yes, the steering is via cutting brakes. I dont like it very much. I want to have true skid steer. |

This one was a "Irresitible Wheel Bulk" I got from BD a year or so ago. I have no clue where he got it, probably Ebay. I have another one that is a camo body and long bed. It been sitting around for about a year as well. |

Any idea what the wheelbase of the body was before you cut it down to fit?

I ran mine this weekend up at the cabin in yellowstone about 13 inches of snow they are amazing were they will go. It was a nice change to do a little crawling in the snow. Im running a 35 turn lathe and 19 tooth pinion everthing else is stock other wise and it seems to work great. That looks sweet love the body. I would leave the canopy it might help out with roll overs. It hits pretty hard when it gose over with nothing in the rear.

There is a chance there will be snow when I get back to MO. Good call on leaving the Canopy madscrambler, I didnt think of the rollbacks. I will recover it with something other than the green canvas that came on the vehicle. Probably a natural canvas color. I drove it around on my carpet the other night. These cutting brakes suck! There really isnt much control on how much it turns, it seems to be all or nothing with the steering. Maybe they will get better as they break in. |
