Yeah I'm like, keep me moving guys! Especially cause the cooler is 41 degrees. Gimme more guys, this ain't rocket science. I think the oldies are used to young 20 somethings with no work ethic yet. I picked up a shift already which I kinda think a couple others were like, huh… but it's not my place to say anything really.

I could take over. It's just that easy.

Best job there has to be the people that shop for the lazies. Online orders fulfilled by employees. Seems like a pretty sweet gig. They walk around with an iPhone looking thing and fill a cart then throw it in the back of a truck that takes it to them.

The bakery people seem tired. Meat and fish guys are cool, and seem to like what they do. Deli is happy. Sushi, well I can't understand a word, and it's completely 3rd party, but they are always laughing. Prepared food people seem to like the cooking so much, and come from restaurant backgrounds and seemingly enjoy it. The back area though, they're the grumps.

Next time you go to the store, look at the demeanor. It's interesting.

I was asked to come work for a guy delivering produce. My old boss's brother in law owns a produce place and hot rod shop, in the same building. Pretty neat, and a nice guy. He delivers small orders to Giant Eagle and he saw me and asked if I was interested in doing that. Went and saw him yesterday for a couple hours. Got the job. Went to Giant Eagle today and put in the two weeks and did my normal stuff then took my 15 minute break and couldn't find a reason to not leave right then and there. Aaaaand I did. I don't feel particularly good about that, but the two guys I thanked for helping me before I snuck out the back said they'd do it too.

Ouch, dick move. Hopefully the new job works out well and you don't need Giant Eagle for a reference or to fall back on.

Yeah. I don't feel too good about it. I took 2.5 years off, so what's another couple months as I just won't ever use Giant Eagle as a reference, I guess. Flip side is, I can now make more money just that much sooner. I ain't waiting two weeks to start the new job, and I'm pretty sure the new boss will understand as he's got quite a bit of negative things to say about the old boss. They've known each other for maaany years. Few days maybe, enjoy the Memorial Day holiday instead of all the crazy that they expect to happen at GE and the new place.

My route includes the Columbus Zoo and it's like 36 cases of iceberg lettuce every other day to feed various water creatures like manatees and sea lions and shit.

If you don't figure out a way to feed some of those manatees and sea lions you're doing it wrong.

You'd think that given the amount of lettuce that those critters eat, the zoo would have an account with Sysco or someone like that, and get the lettuce by the trailer load.

prolly cheaper to just get fresh stuff every other day and not worry about keeping a big stash of it for an extended amount of time.

Yeah , that must be what manatees eat in the wild, as we know spinach grows under salt water........
they may be "sea cows" but no spinach.

It's Romaine. Misspoke. They say it's the closest thing to whatever those things eat. 24-36 cases of 24 every other day. PITA
