comps... thats a riot, there are no crawlers near or around me...In Windsor Ontario. "I guess that makes me the best comp crawling guy here"

Back to reality, haven't even had my crawler out this year. I'm trying to hook up with the guys in Michigan.

Well Cole, you know my answer. I ran in 11 comps last year, including the Nationals. I'm going to be running in all 12 MNRCRC comps this year, plus whatever MWRCA events I can make. I also plan on attending the Nationals again this year. Plus possibly a few other out state comps.
Once crawling season starts this coming weekend, I compete about every 2 weeks through the Summer. We only have a 6 Month season here in MN. I also love to run the trail rigs. I have a sweet spot right close to home for those. So for me, it's YES I compete, and YES I bash
I do feel fortunate to live in an area with a very high interest in rc crawling, even know we're not in a Rocky Mt state, we do have some excellent crawling within about an hour drive.
I've also met a lot of cool people through our MNRCRC club, RCC, and the hobby in general.
While bashing is a blast, I still think competing is the most fun. It makes you want to really get your truck tuned/tweeked to the highest level possible.
MNRCRC, and I know a few others, usually have some play/bash time after comps. We combine the 2 together.
To those of you that have never competed, if you live anywhere near where you can compete? give it a shot. You don't know what you're missing.
I know I'm hooked like a Bass on the end of Badgers line

As a side note to this post. I'm also a single guy with no kids. I realize that there's probably a lot more people that are not single, etc, and don't have the time to be as dedicated as they may like to be. This hobby tends to consume a lot of time and money.

I don't know what you guys consider AREA, but I'm 9/10 times the only Iowan that's in a comp. I can count how many IA people have competed on one hand.
I travel to go to comps. MN IL IN NE
Troy it's allways fun when you come down.

Try living in Alaska The closest comp I know of is Washington; 2600 miles away I've finally tracked down a few people here so we may start competing, but I'm not sure how serious everyone is around here.

You can have a decent comp with only 4 or 5 people... You do not need 12 people to get started. Plan a event, post about it, and make it happen. You might start attracting quite a few people.

I participate in competitions, but I don't know that I necessarily "compete"

Once a month for our comps, and sometimes trek to Portland to run with the ORCRC.

Fantastic isn't it?

The thrill of having ~15 people standing right next to you trying to mess you up and distract you as you try to make an extremely difficult gate is just so awesome that everyone owes it to themselves to try a comp at least once.

I even have non RC buddies come over and drive my trucks and we run a little comp just so I can get a quick little fix.

That's pretty much what I've been doing. I posted here and go zero response so I started taking my crawler to the club races. Then, all of a sudden, a couple TLTs showed up, then a clod, and people started asking questions. So hopefully we'll be doing a comp in a couple weeks or so. With all of 5 or six guys

I've never competed. It's not that I don't want to - I would compete or at least attend a few events if it were easy for me to travel, but at the moment it's not. RC is a solo hobby for me - Very few people I know are into it, and those that are are either dedicated racers, or nitro bashers.

I wish I could compete but there's never any comps near Newport News, Virginia. A bunch of guys in our local jeep club are buying hobby grade rc crawlers though, so we may start competing. I hear there is actually a really good place for comps not too far away. But everybody's always wrenching on there 1:1 rigs on the weekends, including me, or I'm helping someone since mine has already been moved to Alabama. 30 min from Blue Torch Fab............... woot

If anyone out there lives near newport news, virginia and wants to set up a comp or sumthin, let me know, I'll see if I can make it
