maybe this will make you feel better... here is a Daytona that i threw a new motor into.. i was going to drive it back and forth to work but now it is my wifes car for obvious reasons.

its like a metallic ruby red aka pink. not bad for 500 bucks - new motor was 250... so after all the little stuff... we got a new car for 1000.

beckworks has it right. use 3m perfect it. it comes in a few different compounds and the even have waffle pads that work awesome. if you are going to borrow, rent or whatever,,a buffer...don't use the the dual action style. use one that just spins..like a grinder. 7-900 rpms is all you need. don't waste your money on meguiars crap.

You have to use the foam pads though, otherwise you'll get swirls.

Attempt at your own risk and test in a inconspicuos spot first.

I have done this many times and it works like a charm....

BRAKE FLUID

It will actually eat the layer of occidation off the car.Use a very small amount applied to a rag, spread it out as far as you can go. Do small sections at a time like the fenders, then hood, then quarters...you get the idea. After each section is rubbed down with the brake fluid applied cloth buff it out by hand with a towel. When you have the complete car done wax the whole thing. this will help remove any residual fluid.

BAM it will shine like new as long as the paint isnt to thin and you ate thru to the primer.

The key is to apply as little fluid as you can so you dont eat thru the paint. I have never had that problem but it can occur if you are to liberal with the fluid and the paint is really thin.

Like I said try it in a inconspicuos area area like the rocker panels, you wont believe how easy and how little pressure and effort it takes

good luck

Brake fluid.

Might as well use a DA grinder instead of a polisher.

I detailed cars for years for a local car lot red is terrible about fading but it will always buff out. use a good rubbing compound and single stage buffer as mentioned and take your time. i like 3m products myself with red you shouldnt need anything real abrasive if i were you i would drive it to your local auto body supply house and say hay i want this to shine again help. they will since you are gonna buy stuff from them.
