Are you coming out to Gary's on Saturday? I can grab it there, or give me an address and I can come get it afterwards. Just tell me how much cash to bring.

Since this one has a 1/16th scale VXL in it and those go for $140, how about $80.

Well besides the paint I have two identical boats going, both have stock jet drives with graupner 19mm impellers, apache 1/8" U-joints, Traxxas mini servos for steering, Traxxas 380 size brushless systems, custom watercoolling coils, 6 ounces of lead weight, 2200MAH 3 cell lipos and both on different radios.

Who else is ready to go?

Hey Ty, can you post pictures of how you did the cover mod? I picked up Jason's, and he started cutting the top of the hull, but I need to finish it. I remember yours had some sort of silicone gasket that sealed the cover.

I actually just cut nitro fuel line open and shoved it around the bottom of the drivers piece, then glued it in place. I can get some photos later though too.

look up SicRC.com I picked up a turbo sprint 410 kit with a 2mm hull
it's cut for a KMB 28mm jet drive.

same size as the NQD but a deeper hull.
I also have 4 NDQ'z and luv them

wish I lived closer

Awesome thanks for the links!

I was looking at the KMB Jet drives the other day. I may have to jam one into one of my NQD hulls... Or pick one of those Aussie Hulls up. Thanks for the links and post some more photos up!

The 19mm impellers are out of stock, have you found another source/brand? does the stock one work?

I also see the kmb 28mm jet drives with or without reverse $80-100.

Looks like all you need is a 1/16 vxl and u-joint to mate them to the stock jet drive, mini servo, impeller, radio gear and lipo. Where did you put the weight, up front? was the vxl getting hot direct drive like that, is that why your cooling it?

Hi guys, good to see another group into these little boats. I'm Steve, aka ondabeach, aka sicrc. Drail got one of my KMB 28mm powered hull kits and said to check out your thread. Don't worry, I won't be coming around to 'flog my wares' but if you need any advice or parts feel free to message or email me.

Here's a link to my dropbox folder with a bunch of pics that might give you some ideas:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qjf05wjcu...SlKFIM1VMGdsua

You can check out some paint jobs guys have done with my clear hulls in the gallery on my site, Home.

Being basically car/crawler guys I know you'll appreciate clear body parts you can paint from the inside. I make clear hull bottoms to take both the NQD and KMB jets that are compatible with the Tear Into, you can just cut the old hull off and glue mine on. I also do clear decks and hatches that are identical to the Tear Into as well. My Sprint 410 has a bigger hatch opening than the Tear Into.

If you want to see some KMB powered boats in action to compare with the NQD jet, I've got some vids on youtube you can check out. My NQD powered boat is the 'Jet Sprint 410', the KMB powered one is the 'Turbo Sprint 410' and the 'Jet Sprint 540' is my bigger (540mm) version, also powered by the KMB jet.

Cheers... and keep on crawlin'

Really? I just ordered 6 of them the other day...
Either way I believe sicrc.com has replacement impellers for these boats.

I also see the kmb 28mm jet drives with or without reverse $80-100.

Reverse is not needed at all. But I plan to order one of these drives as well.

Looks like all you need is a 1/16 vxl and u-joint to mate them to the stock jet drive, mini servo, impeller, radio gear and lipo. Where did you put the weight, up front? was the vxl getting hot direct drive like that, is that why your cooling it?

Yes it has to be water-cooled. There is no airflow and needs some type of cooling system. And the couple different systems I have used in these boats over the years have all needed water-cooling, but it is really easy to set up. Right now there is 1 ounce on each side of the jet in the very back and 3 ounces directly in the front of the motor (and my battery sits in front of that). You want the weight to be in the back of the boat. This helps the jet stay primed and keeps the nose up over the rougher sections. Of course there is such thing as too much weight, but this setup I have right now is almost perfect for this jet and motor.

Also believe it or not the NQD with the stock drive works really well with the Traxxas 3500kv 540 BL system. I actually prefer this over the 380 motor (or at least I did a couple years ago).

But what you see in the photos from two years ago is the current setup I have in the boat now.
