| Sunrise Offroad areas at Horsetooth Reservoir
Here are the pics from my trip today scouting the area that may host the next comp. Sorry for crappy phone camera pica. Water levels are high but I think we can sort out 5 courses. The best area is a series of slab rock mixed with some loose rocks, and a good portion of this is underwater. But there is also a large area of riprap that has some fun possibilities. THe area has improved since the last comp here several years back and there are now some covered tables nearby. We will have access through the gate, but only to shuttle people and gear up and down. For the bulk of the day we will need to park in the lot at the top. I think the parking fee is still $6 per car and there are restrooms at the lot . |

Wow, it's way up! I went to that spot several months ago and there was a lot of good stuff, now it's mostly submerged.

This is an area just to the south accessed through the same parking lot that is one of my favorite KOH type areas. I call it the Badlands. It has some rolling small shale ridges, some sand, some loose rock, and some larger rock areas.

We should organize a KOH or rockrace event here at either the Badlands or the Soldier Bay area next fall. Both have awsome mixed terrain including great crawling, hillclimbs, sand, loose rock, shale....it is a great area. If you have not seen the terrain, here are a couple of rock racing type videos. the first one is The Badlands and the second is at Soldier Bay |
