I may be able to shave a bit of weight down, but not much. There is a LOT of copper, steel, and magnet material in these.

Getting some pics of these mounted in a rig is on the agenda for tomorrow. The 550 diameter is a bit larger than it will be for production, the same size as the old crawlmasters actually.

we need some vids of these breaking stuff. Or at least some numbers comparing the torque from these and other motors

i was talking about the moa sized motors and you listed the 454 size version to have 13mm rotors so whats so funny? i was mistaken with the way you size your motors, Ive only dealt with Neu for the past 5 years and i assumed the you would build a 14 series size motor i was hoping that it would be the same can as your 550 but much shorter, since we dont need the torqe of a 50mm long motor. so a 36mm diameter (14 series size) with a 14-15mm 4-pole rotor thats say 45mm or less in total length

and the wires exiting the back of the can really doesn't help with link and shock clearance (the reason we need shorter motors to beign with.)

Thats exactly right.
You can count on it being at MSD Nats in at least one rig.

Wow 1600 watts @ (volts ?) Is that continuous ? How many watts was the old style pullers rated at. What about cooling. In tight places over heating is a problem. A sealed motor with that much wattage. How can you keep it cool @ 1600 watts ?

Thanks John for doing the research on all of this. Very cool.

Do you know what kv range you are shooting for on all 3 sizes?

Your's is quite different, actually just a fairly standard build similar to a Roar motor. Got any other feedback for me on those?

The old pullers were rated around 350w continuous and 500w burst. The voltage to get 1600w will depend heavily on gearing and vehicle weight. Lighter rigs won't even pull that much power.

Cooling won't be an issue, the motor should peak at 91% efficiency.

have you given any more thought to a stubby version of that 550? say with a 19d x 15mm L rotor so you could shave 8mm off the length right there and with a little tightening up of teh sensor area i dont see why you couldnt scrounge an extra 4-5 mm there and then youd would be down in the 45mm long and under category which would be SOOO sweet.

i see the 454 motor is 48mm long but once you include the adapter plate and wires out the end you back past 50mm longer and even 50mm is tight for alot of rigs.

what about the specs on the 400 motors how are those looking?

That includes the adapter plate on measures.

The stubby 520 will come, but if you really want short with torque an outrunner makes a good candidate. I am working to stuff this all shorter, there is some airspace in them still.

Excellent feedback guys, keep it coming. I'm busting ass to get them done by December.

Ok so wattage is proportional to torque or speed? Also i'm not huge on brushless but how does kv relate to the power a motor has. Next thing that comes to mind is how much amps are each one of these motors gonna pull?

Tough questions, I will need to prepare a bit for them

The amperage it CAN pull could be ridiculous at 6s (80 to 100 amp bursts), but then you would be dealing with almost 50k in motor speed and enough torque to just shred 1/10th scale crawler parts. On 2s it will be very manageable otherwise. Full disclaimer, I haven't had a chance to data log it in use yet so I am flying by the seat of my pants on HOW the power can be tapped out. 40mph 1/8th scale top truck?
