As apposed to what you're using now, which would be??? Just make sure the fx-r Lipo cutoff is set correctly (9v)

If you are using the stock batt plate you can run a 5000mah no problem i have a 4000 in mine and will run for a real long time. If you are trying to save some weight then this is a real good compromise between size and run time.

In risk of getting flamed for hearsay, some people have had issues with running 3S on an FXR w/o an external BEC. Just saying.

For $20 it is worth having one around just incase you need it but I dont think it is necessary if you are running a scaler without a bunch of stuff on it. A stock honcho with something like a 645MG will run fine with most esc's on 3s. Add a more powerful servo and a winch servo and it is a good idea to throw a bec in it. | |
