The best setup possible is dual ESC's. With them you get fully independent proportional control of both front and rear axles. There are a couple ways to get this...The first is with a radio that includes the proper mixing for dual ESC's, the other way would be a converter unit that takes 2 channel input and has the mixing built into it.

A step below that would be an electronic dig...The preferred dig is the Punk unit although like you have discovered support can take a while. ESC choice is a personal preference thing but the most popular would probably be the Tekin FXR.

Another option would be a Novak M2 Dig but reviews are quite bad on it and more often than not it seems that it doesnt work as it is supposed to.

Consider the dig controllers I make.

MOA Dig Controller for Three Position Channel
MOA Dig Controller for Two Position Channel

I like to think I communicate well too!

Hi bob....

I'm running dual FX-R's now with a WantAmix to control them with my Futaba 3PM-x.
This is better than a single ESC and a servo dig, thus I would not suggest you doing the same (or even a PunkDig). I would stick to dual ESC's.

LosiKid now makes the WantAmix, his site is www.OverKillRC.com
I never tried the heyok units.

As to FX-R's vs. dual CC's, I like the brake & programming of the CC's over the FX-R's.
I like the size of the FX-R's over the CC's (I was running dual Mamba Max's, the older ones with the USB port.)

i'm in the same boat you are, the dx3r will not mix dual esc's so i've got a hold of losikid's wantamix and just waiting to get my second esc. right now i'm using the rocker dig II from rc4wd in my xr10 and it works just fine for a regular electronic dig , i've been running it for about 7 months now without 1 hic-up.

Bob, Get the Dig from heyok. I've also got a DX3R, and have had my heyok dig for at least 6 months, Zero issues, works Great! I've also got a winch control from him for my bulldog winch on my scaler, (no creep) that works Excellent! I can't say enough about the quality of his products and great service. You won't be disappointed.
