Default Dual ESC from one battery source issue

I wired a second ESC in to control servo winch and cut the red wire from the control wiring to the RCVR.
Aux port on RCVR seem's to not work. I can roll the winch ESC control wire to steering position and works great.
New Spektrum DX3e radio & RCVR

Worked great until I powered down the rig.

Any ideas?

Plug a receiver into CH3 on the receiver and see how it moves when you move it with the transmitter. The ESC probably wants to see a "centered servo" signal when it is powered up.

I plugged the steering servo into the aux port on RCVR and powered up, it moved all the way to the right, then adjusted to center.
I then just plugged the servo winch back into aux port and does nothing.
I move it to any other port, works fine.
With steering plugged into aux, now centered and moves servo.

Not making any sense?

Mitch.

Were you able to move the servo when it was plugged into Aux? Able to get left, center and right?

Yes, and I centered it.
I then plugged in the ESC control and nothing.
It just isn't making any sense.
Servo ESC works great in any other port on the RCVR.

Maybe the ESC isn't initializing because it's not seeing zero throttle? Play with your trim...

That ESC works great in other ports on RCVR. I thought that too at first

Does he have to calibrate the ESC to that port?
If so, can he do it using the trim to simulate full throttle in each direction???

Yea I agree although not using trim in either direction but rather whatever switch is going to control the channel.

OP are you able to make the servo go left, right, and straight? If not then you need to work that out.

Ok, I plugged my steering servo into the aux port with the control transmitter set for 3pl for aux channel. I was able to operate 3 positions with steering servo.
I then swapped the winch ESC back into the aux port on RCVR and the winch operated perfectly winching in neutral and line out. When I powered the RCVR and transmitter off, then back on, Back to not working again.

Spektrum DX3E

I ran up to Get A Hobby in Nevada City, Ca tonight and had Justin take a look.
For some unknown reason after connecting the battery and turning on both asc's, you have to turn off the servo asc, then power back on. Then the winch servo works correctly.
If you don't do this it does what ever it wants.
My Honcho electronic's is identical to another guy at the store and his acts differently.
Big thank you to Justin at Get A Hobby!!!!!!!

On my DX3E if the EPA's are maxed out it gets a little twitchy, maybe try tuning them down slightly.

Stull strange.

Ok, I ended up with a burnt servo after the 50lb Spider Wire worked it's way through the 2 piece spool and bound up the servo.
Of course this happened Saturday afternoon with a comp set for Sunday.
Get A Hobby had a 645 in stock but I was unable to replace the spool in time for the comp and ran without.
Just finnished the install, WOW!
Awesome, works great and will be running a comp this Saturday now but no winches or straps allowed and no teams. Just you against the trail and should be fun!
