| What's wrong with my motor
Bear with me guys, I'm kind of a newb at this, despite the join date. My XR runs a pair of HH 45T handwounds. Lately one of them has gotten really weak. By that, I mean it doesn't start moving until well after the other motor does, top end power is weak, it's just not right. I have a punk dig and a single brxl. I can move the motor to the front or the back and the problem remains, so it's not the speed control or dig switch. The motor has new brushes, freshly cut comms, good bearings, the magnets are in place in the can. I don't see any burned wires in the arm.. what am I missing here? |

Sounds like a shorted armature...fairly common in crawlers. All it takes is one bad bind. Often no smoke, no noise....just oops. Typically the armature will show NO signs of it (burn marks, smell, etc). If a rebuild did not fix the problem, then its pretty much a guarantee the arm is shorted. You will need a new armature....
