Is there any reason not to dip nimh and nicd packs? I figure lipos are a no no as tthey heat up alot more then the othets do.

My lipos don't heat up. Over drawing any pack will heat it up, regardless of composition.

For nimh/nicad, some dielectric grease around the terminals will be enough to prevent corrosion. If kept up with. Same for lipos. All batts are "waterproof" for the most part, or else the stuff inside would come out. It's the corrosion on the terminals that's the main issue.

Structurally something else may hold better then plastidip to seal the edges. Don't see why not.

When I made NiCD/NiMH packs, I just wrapped cells together with 3/4" fiberglass packing tape.
Clear heat shrink is also OK.

Don't worry about waterproofing.

Nickel cells get hot under heavy load and near the end of useful discharge, insulating them in plastidip won't let them cool down

I painted the ends with and left the bodies alone.

Covering the vents is not a good idea.
