| HPI SF-50WP Specs are Bunk Right????
So I have a Apache C1 flux and I want to swap to a stronger and faster servo....I figure the stock HPI SF-50WP servo that came with the buggy would be metal geared at best maybe pushing around 160 oz/in on 6V. Then I looked at Tower and it claims 266.6 oz/in @ 6V!!! Speed is just as fast as a digital Hitec 5645MG but it lists more torque!! Are these specs accurate? I have a 5645MG or a 7940TH I could replace it with in my parts bin but if the stock is already above 200 oz/in putting in a 5645MG would be a step backwards right? |

Just because it is rated at 6v, does not mean the stock ESC is sending out 6volts via the BEC, which would slow speed and lower torque ratings.

Right. So should I just keep that stocker servo in there and run a cc bec like I always do on my trail/comp rigs? And if I were to just swap the HPI servo to a 5645MG without adding a BEC would I notice anything? Like power degradation...slower speeds because it's digital versus analog? Or should I go ahead and just put a high voltage servo I have like the 7940TH w/cc bec @7.4V? |

Simple thing to do is to add a BEC and find out what happens to the stock servo.

Yup gonna go tinker later on tonight after work....the stock servo feels really weak. But if it's waterproof I think using it in a mud rig would be fun....an extra RTR servo pushing over 200 oz/in with a bec should equal great times!

Alex, the ESC in the C1 flux is essentially a MMPro which means you should be able to change the BEC voltage via the CC link.

I did I upped it to 6.0V already...feels a bit too sluggish to me on asphalt when Im pulling out of a tight parking lot corner lol. What's cool is the tire compound HPI put in actually squeals pretty loud on hard turns lol....too much fun. I've never had a RTR that was this much fun out of the box....no complaints at all. I liked it better than my Exo which I got rid of it last week.

Voltage adjustability on the MMP is a moot point since its still only like 1 Amp.

Oh I learned something new today! I always wondered if changing the servo voltage on an MMP really pushed out that much extra power. I hardly notice it compared to an external bec. I just take everyone's advice around here to run BEC's on all Castle ESC's. I even run CC BEC's on 3 of my BRXL's just to be safe. |
