Default looking to get a new TX and RX but came across this kit?

ORDERED! Hopefully it'll be a better set up.

Hi fellas,

I'm looking to upgrade my TX and RX to a new one. I'm still using the oldest axial ax10 radio and the rx. Not much adjustabilty to play from.

I came across this kit from Hobbyking.com. It's a Turnigy GTX3 AFHDS 2.4ghz 3 Channel Radio System. I'm not sure what ghz my old axial set up is. i hope someone can tell me what it is and if i could change it over to 2.4ghz? I'm not good at electronics stuff. I just know how to hook it up and go.

Anyway, have any one used this radio before? it comes with a RX but for a price of $35.99? Any inputs or reviews?

here's a link to the item I may consider buying if its worth it.

It looks very close to the FlySky GT3B....I agree.

The stock GT3B is OK for a 3 channel radio, a hacked GT3B is great.

Your old Axial radio can be on FM, AM or 2.4ghz. AM & FM have crystals, matched pair in the TX & RX, 2.4ghz is different.

Even if your old radio was 2.4ghz, I would NOT assume it would work with other brand RX's or TX's.

Alright, my stock radio and the rx have crystals. So, if I buy that rx and tx, will I run into any problem by simply swapping out thevold rx for the new 2.4ghz and radio?

Remove old Receiver,
install new receiver,
bind radio to receiver,
Make sure all trims, sub-trims are centered, EPAs set to 100%,

IF using and AE-1 ESC, you should be good to go,

IF using an AE-2 ESC, you'll need to recalibrate the ESC to the new receiver,

check to make sure your steering linkage isn't binding at full turn,
dial back EXPO or EPAs if it is,
Then go run it.

I looked at my ESC and it's an AE-1. How exactly you bind radio to RX?

Edit: I did some little research about binding. This what I came up with. Correct me if Im wrong. The transmitter and receiver are bound at the factory. Should you ever need to re-bind them, or if you wish to bind an additional receiver to the transmitter, all you have to do is press and hold the transmitter's SET button as you turn it on. Press and hold the receiver's LINK button as you power up your model, then wait for the transmitter's and receiver's status LEDs to turn solid green—which only takes a second or two.

Now, before I buy, is this system better than my stock ae-1 radio and tx?

Any reviews on this system?

Yep, just like adding a RX to an existing TX.

Since it's a 2,4ghz, I would say it's better.
I don't know the radio, but as mentioned, it looks like a FlySky GT3B..... unless it's stated it's the same, I would recommend getting a hacked GT3B or GT3C.

I never heard of the hacked GT. What are they and what do they do?

www.OverKillRC.com
It's a FlySky GT3B 3 channel radio. There is a "hack" to make them 8 channels. You can get a hacked one with 1 RX for ~$75.00. That's about the cost of a single RX for my Futaba 3PM-x.

There is an updated model, the GT3C, it's supposed to be better.

So, the more channels there are, the better? If I wanted rear steering, will this tx and rx works? Again, like I said earlier, I'm not good at electronics.

Nice, a GT3B with a smoother case. IMO looks better than the old GT3B or the GT3C
More channels are better for most people here, though not everyone needs 8ch. either way you dont HAVE to use every available ch ( but you will be tempted lol )
yes this will work for rear steer, winch, dig, lights, dual ESC MOA ect.

this thread is a bit long to read entirely but there is LOTS of info here if you feel like browsing and random searches

Thanks, I decided to give this a shot. I will be ordering it soon. My current set up is going slowly. I figured ill save the old rx my other rig for water runs since its am/fm, travels better in water.
