I was under the impression that the off-gassing of the RTV while it sets up can cause long term corrosion on electronics boards.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I've always used dielectric grease to waterproof my electronics. It's kinda messy, but very effective to fill them up till it oozes out when you reassemble them.

Holmes, you really need to make us a waterpoof brushless setup. You'd sell them like hotcakes. I need two please. Will your new brushless outrunner be available with a waterproof option?

RTVs can offgas acids. Most Silicone ones are worse. I think Grizz found one with low acid content. I've never seen failures that I could connect with them, but I have seen damaged electronics because of proximity. I only use epoxies, resins, or poly's made for electronics use, but my needs as a business are different than the DIY guy. There is also the problem of purchasing what I use, a person can't purchase it in small quantity or without a business license or entity in most cases. I could even get in trouble using them in the non-industrial zoned sections of my town.

I'm working on a BL solution. It just takes time, and lots of it! The outrunner will be WP for sure.

i visited my local electronics store (RTS) and found that he carried the aerosol conformal spray but i needed something more controllable such as a brush on type, so he looked in his books to see that he can order the brushed on acrylic conformal coating (comes in a pretty small container....something like 250ml i think) so....thats on the way!!

im stoked to get all my electronics sealed up!
thanks to those that helped in this thread
