Default recommend a decent motor for me

I just ruined the 50t motor in my scx10 in some goopy sandy mud and water and I'm looking to replace it with one some people might have expierence with as far as being able to get wet and dirty and yet work again the next day after a cleaning

That's going to be hard on any motor. I'd go with like an integy lathe motor. Rebuildable and I've had good luck abusing them in my early days when I thought mud and water was fun.

Holmes Hobbies has a motor that will hold up to abuse. This does not mean it's gonna be bulletproof in wet, sandy, muddy conditions, but it is designed for those types of conditions. On the plus side, Holmes motors just flat out work well and are backed with some great customer support.

I own Holmes motors and they are very good motors but there is no way in hell I am submerging any good handwound in water/mud. I don't see the point in taking a good expensive motor and basically ruining it.

For mud water either buy a bunch of cheap closed endbell motors or a cheap machine wound motor like an Integy lathe motor. Don't buy any Venom motors, I bought a 55t for a non R/C project and they suck balls.(really cheap junk) For running in water and other crud I would prefer bushings because they can be cleaned and oiled faily decent without pulling the motor apart. For non water/mud crawling keep a better motor on hand if you wish.

Run a closed end ball motor and tape up the holes, or run a motor sock.

You can buy axial 27t motors dirt cheap, just dispose of them when they break. rc4wd has some cheap disposable motors to.

yeh i was thinking some of the cheap ones from rc4wd or the integy.
Can you seal off the holes on the motor case or will that cause it to overheat too fast?

I don't do a lot of muddy water stuff, but the very first time i did it ruined the motor (which was a venom) and the course i build in my back yard has a nice mud hole i don't feel like filling in

I've had good luck with the Great Planes T-600 motors. They're a silver can but they're a 600 series motor and they've got plenty of power for trail trucks. We're running them in our Honcho, Wraith and CK 6x6. I don't mind abusing them since the LHS stocks them and they're only $14 ea.

Ditto. If you want a (very) little more speed the S-600 is 19 turns versus 22 turns on the T-600. Either one of these are good all around cheap tough motors. IMHO
