Default Newbie battery question, regarding RC 4WD trail stomper

Hey all,
I'm looking at purchasing a RC 4WD trail stomper ready to run kit, and am wondering what battery to get. The only information in the online manual is it needs a 7.2V battery and no more than a 6cell lipo.
And not knowing much about all this stuff I have a 1/8 scale rc car which it's battery has ""Ni-MH SC2000mAh 7.2V" written on the side. Would this battery work? I asked them this question in an email but all they sent back was a link saying I could use one of there stocked batteries which was a 7.2V Ni-MH 5000mah battery. What is the difference? And will my existing battery work?
I'm a bit reluctant to buy a battery from the states coming from Australia

Yes it will work. I would not invest too much into 7.2v nickle batteries though, lipo is a much better option.

Yes, your existing battery will work. It's a little big & heavy, so down the road you may want to upgrade.

The 7.2volts looks like a minimum "nominal" voltage, so a 2S LiPO will also work.

You may need to change the pack connector, recommend NOT using Tamiya style connectors, Deans is pretty common and worthwhile.

So what is the difference in the 2000mah and 5000mah? Is it the higher the number the longer run time and power output?
If the manual states it uses a 7.2v battery does this mean it could use any 7.2v battery with any mah value?

The mah rating is your "gas tank". The bigger the number, the longer the run time. Nearly any size will work.

The voltage rating is where you get your power. The higher the voltage, the more power you have on tap.

Go to RC4WD's website and research the Outcry esc, which is what comes in that kit. You should find its voltage limitations, which goes beyond 7.2v.
