Default Futaba tx/rx losing signal just under water

I just built my first rig that is pretty much waterproof since some of the people I have been running with lately run in water a good bit. I took it out this past Sunday for a test run and it did great till my receiver was about 3" under water and it went dead. (it was a little deeper than normal from all the rain lately) I am curious if this is a issue or if it is because of the way I have my receiver and antenna done. I put the antenna in the rx like the rest of mine and then I stuffed it in a box and sealed it all up really good. Would it help to take the antenna out of the rx and leave it int the box or run it out of the box? The other guys don't seem to have the same issue but they are running different 2.4 tx/rx than I am. Thanks for any help.

2.4ghz radios don't work quite as well as AM or FM radios underwater. It can vary by brand radio and/or the RX you're running (some RX's do a bit better because of different antennas).
I know the Futaba 3PM-x has 2 different type antennas, one may be better underwater (I'm not home, so I don't remember the PN).

Best bet is to try and get the antenna stretched out for max range.

I am using the 3pl on this rig with the same receiver that is on my 4pl. I will stretch out the antenna and try that. I don't want to use it as a submarine but would like to cross the creeks and streams on the trails like everybody else. the deepest part isn't but about 1ft deep on the crossings.

On my rig I use the 4pl radio , I can run it fully under water but when I get about 1 in or so I loose my signal , about the only thing you could do is to get the antena above water but then you would have one more area to water proof. HAVE FUN GO FOR IT !

Run the antenna as high up as you can. Water is a very effective blocker of radio signals, which is why subs need to surface to use normal radio frequencies.
