Another 7980, then have one on each wheel like some super class rigs use.

Okey-dokey, had a look through all the ideas and links people have posted, thank you again for all these

First up is the reduction gearbox, huuuuge torque, fairly cheap, but very big and would need to be relocated under the chassis and would need a linkage system designed and made. Which might require more torque to operate?

Next, the Hitec HS-1000SGT, the Chuck Norris of servos... 1528oz-in of bone crushing torque A bit spendy at a list price of $429, although I cant actually find anyone who sells it to get a real world price Would require a new servo mount as its rather big, but I think I can do that.

Then there's the wild card, the XQ-Power XQ-S5650D. 833oz-in@8.4 volts
Never heard of it, dont know anything about it, but got plenty of guts and has titanium gears. And only $120?!?!? Too good to be true?

Probably too good to be true. If I had the money I would go with the HiTec, and only buy once.

I thought I was doing that with the 7980, which wasn't cheap, another $430 plus shipping, plus import tax means this one hell of a lot of money for just a servo, and the budget is starting to take a real hammering

Unless anyone knows of somewhere doing the bigger Hitec at a good price? Or anywhere for that matter! Lol can't find it for sale

The XQ-power is big so might be why it's not a popular choice with most RC'ers?

Run 3s and set the bec to 8.4v, that will pull the most power you can out of the servo.

I run 4s at the moment, so it's got plenty of juice behind it. Can you run a 7980 at 8.4v and not burn it up? Bearing in mind the weight of rig it's in.

I deffo huge!!

I think dual 7980 (since you already have one) or maybe one of those 1/5 giant servo that run 3s direct maybe be the solution.

The 7980 is designed for a 2s lipo, and that is 8.4 v and the running it like that, it needs to have overload protection on, or you will kill that servo

I'll bump up the power to 8.4v then do a short test run and see if it makes much of a difference.
If it does I'll buy a programmer and turn on the thermal protection. Thanks

Overload is not thermal.... It checks stall and when stalled cuts power to your set %. You need to use two 7980s and use programer to set them up to push and pull at same rate. Also how bout some better pics of your steering set up. Seems to be pushing down a little. Loosing power if its not linear.

Got myself a 900oz/in servo and have the mother of all billet servo mounts being made on the milling machine at the moment.

The steering links sit horizontal at straight ahead.

Will post pics when it's all finished.
