Question Running Too Hot??

So I recently swapped out my Holmes Crawlmaster 16T on my 2.2 Wraith in favor of a custom Holmes 35T built for CrawlerMafia...

After 1 1850mah 3s pack of hard crawling and bashing motor had a slight burning smell and temps were around 152 F, BRXL + CC BEC was at 94 F, and lipo was 90 F.

Specs on that Holmes 35T were a 2 magnet can, 4.5mm web, 9mm com, laydown brushes, med springs.

So with that being said as well as my noobness when it comes to brushed motors is this perhaps not the best choice for a heavy 2.2 Wraith?

I have no digital scale for accurate measurement but with the loaded Supershafty bulletproof tranny, MIPs, Axial Wraith CVD's, Chaotic titanium tie rod/drag links, VP KMC 2.2''s Reskimed with Pitbulls, scale rotors, Axial HD OD/UD lockers, steel R2J uppers, BGR Sliders, spare 1.9 Flat Iron on stock SCX10 wheel, polished aluminum panels, and a new aluminum hood I haven't polished yet, plus electronics I weigh in a little over 8.25 pounds RTR including my 1850mah 3s.

I know most of the weight is from the aluminum panels and definitely the super scale KMC wheels...and of course the electronics. I do have a brand new TorqueMaster 35T I was going to use on my TF2 should I be running that motor instead?

Gearing is 32p 56T Duratrax spur with 14T Robinson pinion.

I'd say the problem is over-gearing.
Smaller pinion and/or larger spur should do the trick.

Imo a brushed motor in a wraith is just asking for trouble. I'm sure they are fine if geared way down and you are relatively easy on it but that's not really what a wraith is for, to me anyway.

Definitely over geared.

Must have been the outside temperature as well it was 91 F. This morning's shakedown run was great. Outside temperature was low 70s F and at the end of the run using the same pack...motor was at 102 F, ESC 84 F, and lipo was 78F. Should I still drop a tooth on the pinion?

It's not bad to try it out. Should make the truck more responsive and the top speed shouldn't suffer one bit.
