Default Will BEC lower ESC temps

Hey guys ( and gals ? ) ... will using an external BEC reduce the operating temp of the ESC. if yes is it significant? I have always used BEC's on my Trail trucks, or any rig I have high voltage servo's in, but I read somewhere that an external bec could drastically reduce the esc's operating temp, since it will not be "stepping down" the voltage ??? is this correct?

thats funny that you mention this as i was just reading more about the castle bec, and somebody mentioned that it drastically reduced his heat level. but this is all second hand. to be clear i run one in my scx10, and have never even gotten warm on the esc. now my yeti the esc is super warm, to im switching to MMP, BEC and we will see what happens then.

MMP with Roc 412 is my favourite combo, but definitely use a bec with the MMP. I have found the internal bec on the MMP will power your servo, but as soon as you add more lights etc, you will probably have some glitching. How do you like the yeti? Have had mine for 2 weeks but have not drove it yet

The most I've ever heard is 10 degree drop...and that's in a SCT.

Haven't used an esc without a bec in a crawler/scaler since 2009. Couldn't really say. Although just using one makes for a more efficient electrical system.

Yes if the BEC is connected to the receiver rather than to the servo. It won't directly help the ESC but out takes stress off it if internal BEC is not handling the distribution of power. Others may disagree but it has lowered my ESC temps. If your ESC doesn't have an internal BEC than it won't really matter.

I'd think your theory might be a plausible to some extent...
tho' I'll doubt the ESC's operational temp. change would be notable.
The ESC's internal BEC is only around 4.8 - 5.0v

I'd think proper gearing and motor selection would play a more vital role
in reducing excessive heat at the ESC.

I have my CCBEC configured in the way that is described by 'trails.
Can't say I noticed the ESC running any cooler.

But I do notice my radio box gets somewhat warmer
pushing 7.4v thru my RTR AR3 RX

holding so far... the D772 seems happy...
so's wutzta fix ? Lol

Hey Taco Crawler, I looked at the Castles BEC, it is adjustable from 4.8 volts to 9 volts for High Torque servo's, and it say to set the MMP's Internal BEC to the stock settings which is 5.5 volts, so the receiver is running at a lower voltage and their is less strain on the receiver. I also use the Hey Ok Performance, No Brainers non adjustable BEC's which have a 5.5 volt output at 5 amps and they are plug and play, the Castle BEC can be made plug and play, the first picture is the Hey OK, and it has the red lead cut out of the connector. and the second is the Castle BEC wiring, and the third is how to make the Castle BEC plug and play, so you can use it in one or more than R/C' in steady of it beaning hard wired in. I found the third picture on here, some else's work, but going to build some for MMP's in R/C's

You still need to power up the MMP and calibrate the Radio to the receiver thru the ESC as normal then power done and remove red wire, and repower the r/c and the Castle BEC is good to go, the Hey ok Performance BEC, you leave the red wire on the MMP alone No removing wires needed, just plug it in with the power down, and power up and it good to go also. The Hey Ok's work good in my SCX10's with High Torque steering servo's on 2s going to 3s with a MMP and a Castle BEC and Brushless motor and a winch in my Toyota build.
