| Castle BEC Question....
ok guys, i'm new to this whole 'need a BEC for crawlers' thing and I need some advice.. i have a high voltage servo (airtronics ers-962) and I want to run it at its max performance (7.4v).. I have the castle BEC and I know I need it programed to put out 7.4v - but (and here's where I get lost), do I need to be running a 3s lipo as the main battery? I'm currently running a 2s reedy 5000mah pack and would like to continue using that.. my speedo only put out 5v to the BEC, so I'd like some more so will the castle BEC put out enough voltage for the servo with only 7.4 as its main power source? secondly, will a spektrum micro dsm receiver handle the 7.4 coming from the BEC without going *poof*? I know I need to remove one of the wires from the speedo to the receiver going with the BEC, but wasn't sure about the voltage.. thanks!! kaybo |

Use the BEC in the ESC to power the receiver and use this for the servo: Holmes Hobbies LLC |

The BEC will put out 7.4 from your Reedy battery until the battery can no longer put out 7.4 volts. When the battery voltage sags lower than 7.4, that's all the BEC will put out also.

but i like that bypass thingie - ordering now! then just need to find someone to lend me the castlelink based on the bypass this, the BEC plugs into the side where the red/black leads are? and the servo goes into the one with the red/black/yellow? Last edited by k_bojar; 05-11-2015 at 11:33 AM. | |

BEC is just a fancy word or whatever for a voltage regulator. In your case you could not even use one and wire the battery straight to the servo. Well except a full charge battery is higher than 7.4 but the point remains. |

Yeah sorry just edited as I thought about that for an extra second. Though anything claiming safe at 7.4 should be totally fine with an extra volt. |
