I run Venom 3s 2100mah 25c
and Hobby People's 3s 2200mah 30c

I prefer the later... 'cause they cost less to buy.

both have been reliable and work fine.

They're all mfgr'd in China...
so select a distr label, color and the best price.

A decent distr backed warranty is nice...
but realize if it bursts and burns to ash...
there won't be much proof remaining for the warranty !? Lol

I should mention I'm looking to switch to brushless on a few of them, so that's why I'm thinking I need to switch from those turnigy packs..

Maybe they are fine anyway?

I say go with venom. Great batteries. I still run the first venom I ever bought. Going on 3 years now.

They also have a no questions warranty, and when the warranty is up (if they still do it?) They will take your old battery as a trade in for a discount on your new battery.

Out of more than a dozen packs I've only had two puff up on me.
My 2 cents.

I've had good luck with my Turnigys. No issues running brushless.
That being said, I recently got a battery from SMC.
50c 5000mah 3s $40
It is a quality pack, and its a hardcase 3s which is tough to come by from Turnigy.

Nothing wrong with turnigy batteries.

Crawlers don't need really high c ratings. On the brushless ones you might benefit from higher c ratings if you plan on doing speed runs, if your just crawling/trailing you won't be pulling a lot of amps so higher c isn't necessary.

I have 6x 3s 2200 turnigy batteries I use in my crawlers (one a brushless wraith) and all 6 are still rock solid. No puffing, no weak cells, they stay balanced and they were cheap.

Default Lipo suggestions?

A note on power requirements: Brushless uses much less capacity than brushed, as it's a more efficient system. On my race cars, the amount of power used was almost cut in half when I switched from brushed to brushless. That said, I've been wondering about run times/capacity. Seems to be a lot of 2000-2500mah packs. I think I'll do the same.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Turnigy batteries. SPC Racing and SMC Racing batteries are good budget alternatives.

I've had some bad luck with turnigy, with the wires coming loose from the solder tabs inside the hardcase. Never had an issue with all the vemon packs I've ran

Gforce packs from Value Hobby are great for the price. I prefer them to Hobbyking mainly due to the fact the shipping from within the US is faster and cheaper.

Value Hobby: Batteries - Power
