Convert lipo to nimh

I have a stock vaterra ascender & a rc4wd trail finder I have a problem with useing lipo batteries what do I have to do to switch it over to nimh

Light your rigs on fire or simply give them to someone that knows how to use such a high tech battery such as lipo. Nihm are garbage.

lol i'm not comfortable using lipo I am in a wheelchair I want to start doing more things myself

If you can sit in a chair you can use lipo batteries. Seriously they are not some crazy voodoo curse that may decide to kill you in your sleep, they are just batteries.

All you need to know is to charge them at 1c which is 1% of their capacity (2000 mah gets charged at 2 amp etc) and to balance charge them.

If your esc does not have auto lipo cutoff then it's time to upgrade that ancient relic. I cut off my batteries at 3.0 volts per cell but 3.2 is a nice safe place that will still give you lots of run time.

No advantage using nimh, lipos are safe, using common sense and following directions.

And check your cell phone, no nimh batteries there

NiMH are fine, I have a couple of 7-cell packs that I run in my scalers and they work great.

All you need to do is to switch your ESC from lipo mode to NiMH mode, it should say how to do it in the manual.

If you don't switch it, your ESC will go into low voltage cutoff (LVC) when you still have plenty of capacity left on you NiMH pack.

Most people will agree that lipo is the better choice, and is just as safe as NiMH packs. Lipo packs require a little more care and feeding, but the little bit of extra knowledge and time that are required are well worth it.

In the end, they are your rigs, being supported my your money and time.

People are scared of LiPos because of early problems mostly with the PEOPLE. The fires started when people incorrectly charged them and left them unattended.

But so many things use LiPos. In fact, most of us carry a LiPo around in our pocket every day in the form of a cellphone.

Good to hear. Buy yourself a LiPo and a decent charger. I use HobbyKing Turnigy and Zippy LiPos. I hear good things about SMC. And for a charger I use the Thunder AC6. It's not the best charger, but it does the job.
