My recommendation would be the Mamba X and 1406-1900 combo you linked to.

I have the MambaX and a Castle Slate motor in my Wraith. It works exceptionally well.

If your vehicle is as light as you say - there is no need to use the physically larger CC Mamba Monster X, just go with the newer smaller Mamba X. They are very similar otherwise, only the Monster is rated for heavier vehicles. Frankly, you could probably go with a Mamba Micro X for the G-Made. MAMBA MICRO X 12.6V ESC, 2A PEAK BEC W / POSTS Quoted from their site: "The Mamba Micro X Crawler edition ESC is our latest offering for the crawling crowd. This ESC is ideal for the weight conscious builder or where space is limited, used in low speed crawling or trail running in vehicles weighing up to 8lbs on 2s or 3s; it can also be used in slightly more aggressive setups like rock racing and extended hill climbing on vehicles up to 4lbs. Recommended motors include Castle's "Slate" crawler motors (combos available) and Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro 540 "Stubby" (≤ 2700kv)" I'd also say a Stubby Holmes 2200 or 2700 is all the motor you'd need as well for that somewhat lighter vehicle. If you used the Micro X and the Stubby you'd have a nice lighter overall weight vehicle with a very easy to locate ESC, as it is very small. It would be a bit of overkill to run a Mamba X and a standard-sized Puller Pro motor. Last edited by durok; 01-28-2018 at 11:17 AM. |

I finally decided to buy this Castle's combo: MAMBA X, SENSORED, 25.2V WP ESC AND 1406-1900KV SENSORED COMBO found at a really advantageous price, € 199 - $ 245.69 in a trusted store in Italy (for the combo Mamba X + Puller Pro Stubby 220KV in Italy you spend € 315 - $ 388.91) ... I'll try this combo if I'm not satisfied I'll buy the Holmes Puller Pro Stubby 2200KV .... |

I’ve been looking at this same setup but was leaning more toward the smaller Mamba x. How did your combo turn out? Good for crawling & racing?

I just did almost 5 miles trailing and climbing over 4 1/2 hours today with my Coyote. After running for 5 hours my 7200mah 2s lipo pack was still at 7.37 volts overall. The Castle ESC and Slate motors where excellent all day long. Overall a very efficient and smooth combination. If you really wanted even more versatility the Mamba X you put in about anything. I ran mine on 4S lipo in my 1/8th buggy with zero issues over 2 years. | |
