Servo finally gave out. SW0230 is the model. Thanks for all the tips on esc upgrades but I think for now I will just upgrade my servo. I will upgrade my esc when I convert to brushless. What do you guys think about this?

The 'blue' Savox SW1210SG that I use is waterproof and at 7.4 volts it produces .13 sec/319.40 oz-in. I know many here would consider this to be a minimum requirement.

Sorry, so many replies it's hard to keep up. New to this whole forum thing. The servo basicly just wasn't getting enough power to turn the wheels all the way when stopped. Those are really the only symptoms. It started cutting out fully tonight, wouldn't turn left or wouldn't turn right untill it burned itself out. Heard some gears free spinning inside. She's toast now. It's my 4th servo in 3 months. I really have to start reading up on specs and what not.

Great servo - also the ProModeler 470oz-in is highly recommended.

ProModeler - 470oz-in, Std, BLS #DS470BLHV

That's the beast i run in my TRex, if you chose this one you will need a rx bypass adaptor and a bec. Or you run it direct from the lipo, but 3S is officially not supported, but works great (own risk). Love it.

Cheeper not so powerfull alternative powerhd 20kg waterproof.

That is a good strong servo, but when I am recommending servos I assume that you are going to get them wet, and so I would tell you to get a servo with an IP (intrusion protection) rating for their water resistance, typically IP67. Regardless of the marketing material, nothing is fully waterproof. Look to hitec or savox.

You may be able to fix the servo with a set of replacement gears, and use it for shifting or for a much lighter vehicle.

The powerhd 20kg is sufficient as an entry level servo, but I found them to be a touch slow for my taste.

I tried running one at 7.4 volts, but it let the smoke out.

Could I rebuild my savox to accommodate my truck? To push more power?..
