| 1080 hobbywing calibration
Hello all I'm trying to calibrate my new 1080 esc and it's not going to good. It will go in to calibrate mode but as soon as you try to set the forward it won't beep. It doesn't do anything. I even tried a different radio.

Try reversing your throttle channel on your radio.

Do you have the trims on the remote set to center?

If I recall, the first time I set mine it didn't like either where my neutral was (either full fwd or rev was too close to it). I cheated by setting neutral while holding it slightly out one way, then the rest worked. I did it a 2nd time w/o cheating and it was fully set. What radio do you have? If you can max out the endpoints to 120% it might help too. |

Ok I had some time to try again. I have a futaba 3pm. I set the endpoints to 120 nothing tried every thing I could think of with that radio and nothing. So I hooked up a old futaba mag sport. And that didn't work either

I had the same issue when I setup a GT3C and 1080 this weekend. I ended up switching throttle and steering at the receiver and used the wheel to get the ESC calibrated.

I got mine calibrated but the motor still won't turn forward or backwards And during the calibration the led light just keeps flashing at the end and doesn't shut off Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

| Re: 1080 hobbywing calibration After calibration the ESC will do a battery check cycle. It is mentioned in the instructions. You can steer just can't go until the check is done.

| Re: 1080 hobbywing calibration Ok im having major problems getting calibrated I did what you said and plugged the esc into channel 1 and it calibrated on the servo channel with the steering wheel. 1 beep turn wheel forward 2 beeps turn wheel backward etc... But now how do i get it to work with the trigger?? When i plug it back into channel 2 it wont work with the trigger. When i try to calibrate on channel 2 like your supposed to it wont give me the beep to go ahead and pull the trigger etc. Using channel one and the turning dial wheel gives me the beeps!!! I dont want to have a car that i use the steering wheel for throttle and have no steering. Im beyond frustrated here. Any help would be appreciated.

The first time I tried to calibrate my 1080 I got totally lost, putting it politely. So, I wrote out the instructions as I'm old and blind and think I was missing something in the step by step procedure. This is what I have and it seems to work every time for me now. 1. Turn on the transmitter, ensure all parameters (D/R, Curve, ATL) on the throttle channel are at default (100%). For transmitter without LCD, please turn the knob to the maximum, and the throttle “TRIM” to 0. Please also turn the corresponding knob to the neutral position. For FutabaTM transmitter, the direction of throttle channel shall be set to “REV”, while other radio systems shall be set to “NOR”. Please ensure the “ABS/braking function” of your transmitter is DISABLED. 2. Start with transmitter ON and the ESC turned OFF but connected to a battery. Hold the SET button and press the ON/OFF button to turn on the ESC, the RED LED on the ESC starts to flash (Note: the motor beeps at the same time), then RELEASE the SET button IMMEDIATELY (The ESC will enter the programming mode if the SET button is not released in 3 seconds, please restart from step 1.). Note: Beeps from the motor may be low sometimes and you can check the status LED as well. 3. To set the neutral point, the full forward throttle endpoint and the full brake (reverse) endpoint - • Leave the transmitter throttle at the neutral position, press the SET button, the RED LED flashes 1 time and the motor beeps 1 time to accept the neutral position. • Pull the throttle trigger to the full throttle forward position, press the SET button, the RED LED blinks 2 times and the motor beeps 2 times to accept the full forward throttle endpoint. • Push the throttle trigger to the full brake (reverse) position, press the SET button, the RED LED blinks 3 times and the motor beeps 3 times to accept the full brake endpoint. 4. The motor can be started 3 seconds after the ESC/Radio calibration is complete. Instead of continuing as per step 4, I turn the ESC OFF after calibrating and then turn it back on and listen for the beeps to let me know the ESC has gone thru the initialization procedure (short beeps for number of lipo cells, 1 long beep to indicate successful ESC initialization). Hope this might clarify things and get you going. |

Thank you for your help but alas the only way I can get the esc to acknowledge programming is on the steering servo channel one plug. When on that plug I can get the corresponding beeps and can set the throttle with the steering wheel. It won't do anything on the channel 2 plug I can't get it to give me the programming beep on channel 2 at all. Could it be a bad receiver?

With the ESC throttle wire in channel 1, after you've done the throttle calibration, does the motor operate in forward and reverse using the steering wheel? Don't worry about the servo at the moment. When you have the ESC throttle wire plugged in to channel 2, do you get the short beeps and 1 long beep when you power up the ESC? Is there a LED or light of some kind on your receiver to tell you the receiver is powered up? With the ESC throttle wire plugged in to channel 2 and the servo wire plugged in to channel 1, will the servo operate when you turn the transmitter steering wheel left and right? Don't worry about the throttle working when doing this test. If the servo does turn left and right using the above scenario, then the receiver could be faulty. The fact the throttle calibration sequence works on channel 1 indicates channel 1 is functional. Do you have a spare receiver try the throttle calibration? Finally, do you have a spare/different brand ESC you can plug in to the receiver to see if the throttle and steering work? Sorry for so many questions but you're now down to the process of elimination. |
