Default Hobbywing 1080 and HH TraillMaster Motor

Hey guys and gals....

I have a TRX4 Sport that I'm going to crawl and trail run with. I bought a 12T Trailmaster and a 21 Turn. I'm going to gear it at 9t pinion and 45t spur. I read on HH website not to use 12T for crawling. Is that because it has too much speed vs torque?

The 12t is for speed, like for use in a short course or stadium truck - 2wd, usually.

The 21t will be great in the TRX-4!

Actually I would recommend the new HH Crawlmaster Sport 550 15t. It is a 5 segment armature opposed to a 3 segment which makes it much smoother for the same $20.

I stand by my recommendation, as he already has the Trailmaster motor, it's a great choice.

Sure - the Crawlmaster series is awesome too - but I tend to avoid telling people to buy something else unless they've made an actual error buying what they have.

Trailmaster is punchier from the start - loads of torque.

Depends on what you like - and how much control you have over your throttle finger...

12t will be ok IF you can gear it down, but I don't think you can get that low with a TRX. 21t is a much better choice given the stock gearing range.
