Default Battery Maintenance

So i can usually get about 40min of spare time to hit a crawl spot almost every day. I will charge my battery to full before i head out, but i never use up the entire charge. Should i just use the battery again the next day (since there is still charge left), top off the battery before my next outing, or storage charge it upon returning and charge it up before the next use?

What is the best method for battery life?

I charge to full before going to a trail location and I keep them topped off if I use it the next day.

Put in storage mode if it won't be used for more than 1 or 2 days.

I discharge mine after each use and then run a storage charge on them, charge them again the next time I'm heading out. Takes no effort/hardly any time to do it and then I don't have to remember what "mode" they are in. As far as the next day thing I have 2 batteries and just rotate them if needed. I can crawl forever on a 5200 MAh 2s with the current setup (35t brushed), so usually if I get 40 mins in I just run the same battery as-is the next day until it's done, pop in the backup. Having 2 batteries is nice, not sure if that is your case.

If its within 3 days of being fully charged I continue to use them until they're around storage charge, but I do this when I'm just crawling in my backyard. If I were heading out somewhere I'd want a full charge for the most run time.

I have been short charging mine (setting charger to life I think). Thats stops charging at 4.10 per cell. When put on a battery checker it shows the pack around 88% Have read that is better for packs then going all the way up to 100% Never put them at storage charge. I have been doing this for years with packs lasting for many seasons, and I run a lot. This year I have 245 miles recorded on sports tracker.

Most newish chargers allow you to set the max per cell voltage so you might not need to use the LiFe setting.

I carry spare battery and run the first one down, then swap.
When I get home I charge the empty one to full and leave it.
I get several hour runtimes with one battery, and I use nimh.
